I live on the big island of hawaii and I love being in the ocean, gardening and Yoga.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ohip Hale. The location is very private and surrounded by tropical forest, but close to Kailua and the Kona and Kohala beaches. It was perfect for our mode of leisurely mornings at the house, spending the day exploring the beaches and environs, and returning for a quiet, relaxed evening. The house is nicely designed and decorated with art and artifacts from around the world. We appreciated the well-equipped kitchen and Kathryn's thoughtfulness in providing essentials for cooking and for an overall very comfortable stay.
Ohia Hale is a perfect place to stay in Kona. It's up the mountain, a perfect place to escape the heat of Kailua. Catherine and Bill set us up with easy directions for us to find the house. The property is lovely with lush vegetation and the cozy house is decorated in an authentic Hawaiian style. We used the fireplace the first night and enjoyed the ukulele and other entertainment items available.
We took full advantage of the well stocked kitchen, using it for breakfast - lunch - and dinner. We appreciated the nice appliances for cooking, including an outdoor grill, and the plethora of cutlery and utensils.
We liked the visits from the cat, Ollie, who made us feel at home.
The master bed is very comfortable. We slept well--especially after a magical soak in the outdoor tub. We highly recommend the Ohia Hale and hope to return for a longer stay soon!
