Really cute place. Clean and comfortable. The only thing I'll note is that there is no door separating the bathroom and the bedroom. It would be easy to add a little privacy with a curtain or some beads :)
Great experience overall, I would stay again. Thanks!
This is a lovely aqua-colored box of a guest house set down on the hillside from the main house. If your priorities are location and privacy without all the frills, this is the place. The casita is exactly as described, with an incredibly comfortable bed, modern bathroom, and beautiful outdoor seating area. There is a microwave and a small refrigerator. The location is perfect, within 5 - 10 min of all the downtown popular spots yet you can sit on the deck and feel a million miles away listening the the buzz of the hummingbirds. The property backs directly onto the network of hiking trails that connect into the famous Lykken trail with fabulous views of the entire valley. My host Jon was always prompt with feedback about recycling or reassurance (when a candle set off the smoke alarm!) etc... but, at the same time, I had total privacy during my stay. If you don't need a gourmet kitchen but would love to see the sun rise over the valley by just stepping out your back door, this is the place. Oh, yes did I mention the weather??? Glorious during my entire stay. I wish it were possible to post photos!
Wonderful stay! The guest studio was quiet, peaceful and very comfortable. We were in town for Modernism Week and enjoyed getting away from the crowds. The property is very close to downtown but feels like a remote getaway.
What a lovely place to stay in Palm Springs. In a really great neighborhood, and close enough to downtown, it's a quiet, private, and quaint place to stay with a really comfy bed. Jon made us feel welcome with a clean and attractive room with its own sitting area outside. Great for our busy trip to the area, it was the perfect little crash pad, and if you're into hiking, you really can't beat its location.
Really enjoyed the wildlife found in the canyon. We saw a bobcat, a road runner, doves, and humming birds. The apartment was very clean and neat. We found one of the wine glasses was cracked and Jon came over and gave us a new one. One problem was with the that there were not enough outlets for the fridge, micro and coffee machine and you had to jockey the plugs as needed. Also the painted surface on the toilet seat has come off at one point and although clean looks pretty rough.
We loved staying here. It was quiet except for beautiful birdsong. Appreciated being next to the trail, which I walked early in the morning to the viewpoint. The place is small but very nice, and with the outdoor area it's like another room. Hope to come back!
Just as expected. The hiking trails were awesome right behind the house.
Jon has really created the perfect spot in Palm Speings with private entrance into an outdoor living room, inside has really nice rock floors and the bathroom is deluxe. So close to town yet the humming birds by day and coyotes by night make this the perfect (non-hotel) retreat!
The casita is lovely and quiet, as are the hosts. It has a private deck that is screened in by bushes from an arroyo and private stairs down to the entrance. I went to sleep to the sounds of owls and coyotes. The pictures don't quite do justice to the stone floors, enormous bed, and mid-century modern bathroom. Jon was wonderfully responsive when I sent a message, but I didn't see anyone otherwise. It really was like having my own, small apartment in the desert. I recommend it wholeheartedly.
Exactly the lodging I craved, away from hustle, bustle, and tourism. Though those are accessible enough from the casita. Slept soundly even through the tapping of unusual rainfall. A great refuge at the base of San Jacinto. Thanks, Jon.
Jon was a great guest. Very easy to host! I hope he comes back soon!!
