My husband and I are professionals, long time NYC habitants, who lived on the upper east side for 15 years. We are bringing our articulate 16 year nephew from Portland to NYC for his first real City visit (he came with his mom when he was five but doesn't remember it). We have owned a 2 bedroom at 1049 Fifth and a 3 bedroom at The Gotham, and introduced countless friends, families, and young people to the City. Our thought was that if you could navigate NYC you could travel anywhere (London, Japan, Germany) and become a citizen of the world. We rent a beautiful home in Portland (where my husband accepted a job) because we anticipate returning to our real home - NYC. We have owned many rental properties (12) during the last 30 years, and hence are caring visitors who live lightly in another's home.
