Lise was great for checking in and out. She was a gracious host with lots tourist information about the Loire. Had wine and cheese on arrival and our first breakfast was provided with bread, jam, juice, butter and eggs.
Studio was in an amazing setting, all as shown online. Moroccan influence was a novel and interesting idea. Would stay again
On arrival, our host David greeted us with a bottle of wine and plate of cheese, a preview of our wonderful visit to the Loire Valley.
The Monts apartment is a short drive from great locations like the Chateau D’Azay d’ Rideau, perched on a small island in the river; Chateau Villandry and it’s not to be missed gardens; Chateau Chenonceau, a magnificent castle spanning a river; and Chateau D’Usse, birthplace of the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale. Also nearby are the charming villages of Amboise, Loche, Chinon, and Saumur. Each has resident chateaus and a collection of restaurants, cafes and shops. The city of Tours is very close and offers bustling urban delights including Place Plumereau, the perfect spot to people watch.
David and Lise studio apartment is part of an old mill beside the L’Indre River. It is a cozy hideaway with views of the river out the back window. Through the back door is a small terrace with a table and chairs. We used to take in the lovely view while enjoying breakfast. Wandering the property is a gentle Golden Retriever who acts as the property’s unofficial greater. There is also a haughty cat and an impossibly cute white rabbit who will insist on a friendly stroke across its back.
Monts is the home to several restaurants from neighborhood to gourmet. Try the local Pizza place; The pizza is really a delicious flatbread and the salads are fresh and delightful. If your wallet can stand it, dine at the Domaine de le Tortiniere. The food and views are unforgettable and perfect for a special occasion; We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary there.
David made the reservation for us as well as presenting us with a bottle of champagne. It was typical of his generous assistance. He might be the best feature of the Mont’s apartment. His warmth and friendliness are genuine and we felt we were staying with friends. (Lise was away for most of our visit. We met briefly and felt she matched David’s good cheer.)
We highly recommend visiting David & Lise's Mill at Monts!
David was a excellent host. Nothing was too much trouble.
Great location in a building full of character
The mill, village, hosts, and apartment could not have been better. We absolutely loved our time in Monts: gorgeous setting, comfortable and charming accommodations, kind and helpful hosts...an ideal location from which to explore the Loire Valley. In my next life, I will live here.....!
Great place to base ourselves while exploring the Loire Valley. Lise was so helpful with information on the area but not intrusive at all during our stay. She even lent us her bike with a bike seat attached for our daughter so we could explore the area as a family. The canoe and garden were our 3 year old's favourites (she loved her tiny life vest and would race down to put it on each morning!). A highlight of our stay in Monts is a visit to La Parc de Recreation. So much fun for both the adults and children. Thanks again Lise. Hopefully we'll return one day.
Lovely apartment and setting. enjoyed the intimate setting. perfect for couple or two. David and Lise went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. even visited on Christmas Day to wish us a happy holiday. Highly recommended.
This is a very well placed property for exploring the Loire Valley. David was very accommodating and gave some excellent tips for the region. There are many day trips to be done from this central location.
Well, there isn´t much that we could add, except that what our predecessors said about Lise and David and their beautiful home is true. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are just sorry we weren´t able to follow up on half the suggestions Lise had for us during introduction.
On he other side, that gives us a good reason to return and catch up ;-)

We stayed in Monts for 5 nights on our honeymoon and we almost wished we have planned nothing else (and we spend 5 nights in Paris)! Lise and David were wonderful to deal with from start to finish and even had some wonderful honeymoon themed treats for us upon arrival. After an incredibly thorough orientation by Lise we were left on our own. A wonderfully cozy set up awaited us with a selling feature we had no idea about until we went to bed the first night. This is an old mill that the water still runs under underneath (Lise gave us a history lesson and they still have to watch the water levels to control the water going downstream) and If you have ever slept with natural water flows just outside your window, you know that this leads to the best sleep you will ever have. There are huge windows that open wide to get a view of the Indre river and allow the relaxing sounds of the river flow into your bedroom and dining room. We were fully relaxed and our cares melted away within minutes. The town of Monts is a beautiful mix of old and new. Make sure you go to market Saturday morning and take a walk along the river. There are bikes at your disposal and kayaks/canoes for the river (HUGE BONUS). We took the bikes out as the Loire is famous for it biking at hit two Chateaus in a day via bike (after Lise's recommendation). It was a long bike ride (30 ish km) but so worth it. Riding through rows of wine and sunflowers along with small villages full of people who all say "bonjour" as you pedal by. This really is a special part of the world. If you are in the area stay here! The place is cozy and so relaxing! It's an old building so don't expect hot tubs and chefs kitchens, but do expect to have access to good REAL food and a relaxing stay. For dinner, go to the Carousel de Saveurs ( I think that's the name-Lise would be able to tell you for sure). Coming from someone in the industry, this food is excellent and well made-and the dessert is to die for. My wife will not stop talking about it. We recommend Lise and David's place for anyone staying in the area. We saw all the great Chateaus- Clos Luce/Amboise, Chenonceau, Villandy...etc, all within a 45 minute drive. We will be back and will hope to stay with Lise and David again...such nice and professional hosts!
It was really lovely to have Lise, David and family stay at the apartment. They were amazingly accommodating and helpful... they even did some laundry for me to help with a tight change over. They left the apartment spotless. All in all... fantastic guests.
I know David and Hind-Lise for over 25 years and I can truly say that they are my family.
They are reliable, honest and very friendly. They will do their best to make your stay the most enjoyable. Go see them and enjoy their beautiful 16th century mills located one of the best French region.
