I'm originally from Finland, and have ended up in Derbyshire via London, New Zealand, Australia and Ireland. I've now lived in beautiful little town of Wirksworth for 8 years with my husband and little girl and baby boy.

Wonderful weekend with my husband for our anniversary. Such a beautiful little cottage. Really enjoyed a wonderful walk straight from the house to The Bear Inn. Lots of lush green fields and fresh air. Tiina was very helpful and gave us thoughtful ideas of where to eat etc. Lovely stay.
We LOVED Gorsey Bank! I can't say how wonderful and how welcoming was this space! We never got to meet Tiina, sadly, but from what she has done to make her space so awesome, she must be pretty awesome, too!
Brilliant little cottage. Spotlessly clean. Our host left milk in the fridge so that we could have a drink on arrival which was a lovely touch.
A spotlessly well - kept cottage perfect for a peaceful Peak District break for two. It was lovely to wake up to green views and have the whole place to ourselves for lazy breakfasts and cosy nights in. The kitchen has everything you could need, the bathroom is very clean and shower powerful, the bed super cosy and it's all just a short walk from the the pubs of Wirksworth. All Tiina's maps and walking recommendations in the cottage are very helpful too, you dont need to buy your own. We loved Stannage Edge! If you're planning on having takeaway one night, be warned that lots of the local ones are closed on Tuesdays! Overall the perfect stay.
Sounds like a perfect break. Thank you for coming, it was a pleasure to have you as guests.
Hillside Cottage is delightful, warm, cosy and immaculate with all day sunshine and gorgeous views over the hills. Tiina was very helpful and accommodating, very much appreciated.
The exterior of the cottage was absolutely beautiful, with stunning views of the countryside and a little garden which hosts many animals. There was space for parking if necessary but we parked on the hill which is about 20 seconds walk away anyway.
The interior of the cottage was magnificent, very cute and intimate with a lovely warm fire and tasteful decor. The kitchen was fully equipped including coffee, tea and biscuits! The bedroom was lovely with high ceilings and plenty of light from the window and skylight. The bathroom was equally lovely and modern with a relaxing shower. There was also excellent WiFi which was perfect for streaming movies from my laptop. We stayed at the cottage for two nights but would have loved to stay longer! A wonderful and helpful host also - would recommend this gorgeous retreat to anyone.
Lovely cottage, a great location for some wonderful walks in the Peak District.
Hillside Cottage made a perfect weekend getaway – a spotlessly-presented and very well appointed cottage, small but beautifully formed for two, located within easy walking distance of Wirksworth's picturesque town centre. We didn't want to hire a car, which wasn't a problem at all – Tiina kindly booked our 10 minute taxi ride from nearby Cromford station (I believe pre-booking is essential as the station's too small for a taxi stand), and everything else was easily reached on foot with beautiful walks right from our doorstep, and the town centre within a 15 minute leisurely stroll.
Tiina has presented the cottage beautifully, from the stylish furnishings to the welcoming pint of milk and biscuits in the kitchen. We didn't cook much while we were there – but the kitchen is well kitted out should you want to. Instead, we visited Le Mistral (French brasserie) and the local chippie, taking packed lunches on our daytime walks.
Tiina is a friendly and fantastically communicative host – although we didn't get to meet her in person, she kindly made local recommendations by text, and has compiled a helpful folder listing many more local options and ideas for local activities, restaurants/pubs and walks. Binoculars, local walking guides and a couple of Ordinance Survey maps were also available for us to use.
If staying at the cottage for a longer time you might want to hire a car to make the most of the Peak District's daytrip and walking opportunities, but even without one the local area offered us the perfect variety of things to see and do for a relaxed weekend mini-break.
In short, I would recommend Hillside Cottage without hesitation!
The host was very friendly and welcoming and the cottage was beutiful as described. Particularly the location.
Easy from start to finish. Lovely little cottage with a really cosy and beautiful decor. All the facilities were great. The village was really nice and there was lots of info in the house on what to do. Would definitely recommend to others!
