We stayed with Bridget over the weekend for SXSW and would recommend any adventurous souls to stay there as well. The tent was clean and completely set up for us when we arrived, and the bed was very comfortable as well. Bridget even provided night lights outside the tent and plugs inside! Having other tents and the fire place outside made a great community setting, I wish we had more time to spend there with the other guest! The outside shower was fantastic as the hot water mixed with the cool morning air and sounds of birds and nature! A great setting for a real music festival experience!
My band (5 of us) stayed in Bridget's tent village for sxsw. It was so close to the downtown area, and far enough away to have quiet, relaxing nights. Her house is close to great food and we enjoyed playing music with Bridget and friends in the backyard. The fire pit is great also. The tent was clean, blankets clean and warm, and the airbeds were surprisingly very comfortable (best night of sleep the whole tour)! We had a great time and plan on staying again next year if we go back to Austin. Her dogs were also super cute.
A very sympathic place and an unexpensive way to discover Austin. Buy a bike t the closest wallmart and you trip will be perfect. If you prefer to walk, dontown is at 1hour or you can use the rail just 10 minutes from the home. Bridget is really cool and helpfull. The best place to meet new people
My wife & I stayed 3 days. We were very happy with the tent and especially with Bridget. The airbed in the double-compartment tent made it more comfy than standard tent, and there was also lots of room for luggage. It helped to have inside space to use when needed - kitchen, bathroom & dining/relaxing space, with good wi-fi.
We were to say the least unlucky with the weather, as night 2 had torrential rain! Even before we got back to the tent, Bridget had offered to us to decamp to inside the house, and as the rain got heavier at about 3am she came out to bring us in, re-inflating the mattress inside. And then she made extra waffles for us in the morning!
The location was also good, especially for buses (including the 18 bus very close to the Megabus stop), and (for weekday daytimes especially) the metro.
Great stay - Eric and Bridget are very friendly, easy going people and very accommodating. Great spot in the garden for the tent and the outdoor shower is wonderful. Eric had the bus and train schedule for me all sorted - really easy commute by bus to downtown Austin. Oh yes and I fell in love with dogs! Thanks Guys. John
Eric and Bridgette were great!! and have great coffee. I was getting in very late on a friday so coordinated with Eric through phone and text, who was very prompt in replying. The tent was set up with a sleeping bag an pillow and I slept like a baby. The outdoor shower was also a nice way to start your day. Bus and Metro Rail are very close, but if you had to walk to North Part of UT it would probably only take 15-20 minutes. If you are staying in Austin and want to save money on a place, i.e. not blow it on a hotel room you wont even spend time in, this is the way to go. Thanks!
Eric was a perfect guest. Friendly and interesting guy who was easy to talk to. The room was just as clean when he left as when he arrived! Definitely recommended.
Eric and his girlfriend were very nice and friendly. We would reinvite them again as guests in our appartment.
You want to go to SXSW but don’t want to break the bank to do so?! Well, then this is the Garden Hamlet Retreat for you! You can bike to everything from this location or just walk to the choo-choo-train!
