I'm a California transplant who now lives in Brooklyn full time. I work as an editor, and live with a lovable cat.

Joyce's apartment was absolutely perfect and we loved staying there. It was spotlessly clean, spacious and located conveniently close to subways. Her cat Keiko is super cute and very low maintenance. Joyce was very easy to communicate and coordinate with. She has put together a great guidebook as well which i found myself using to try out the variety of wonderful cafes and restaurants walking distance from her apartment. I would more than recommend her place for anyone to stay at. Thank you Joyce for being a wonderful host!
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in New York and Joyce's apartment was wonderful. Better than any hotel.
The roof terrace had amazing views of Manhattan and Park Slope where the apartment is located is great.
The local restaurants and bars were fantastic we were spoilt for choice.
It's a quick easy journey into Manhattan and we enjoyed our nights out there, but we looked forward to evenings in Brooklyn and back at the apartment.
Keiko, Joyce's cat was lovely and absolute pleasure to look after.
I have nothing but good things to say about our Airbnb experience. And I would recommend Joyce's apartment.
Thx Joyce we had a great time.
Better Than A Boutique Hotel
My family and I stayed at Joyce's wonderful apartment between Christmas and New Year's Eve. It could not have been a nicer experience.
The building, itself, appears to be brand new. The well lit and appointed lobby is welcoming; having the vibe of a boutique hotel. Couple this with the large furnished rooftop deck, with it's fantastic views of Brooklyn and Manhattan, plus a well equipped gym and you quickly realize that few establishments can compete with what Joyce has to offer.
However, it's Joyce's actual unit that is a step up from most hotels. Her generous one bedroom offers more room and amenities than most hotels. It's large windows allow for a lot of light that adds to the spacious feel. The balcony has great views of Manhattan, despite only being on the fourth floor. Street noise was non existent.
The kitchen is modern and roomy with new full sized stainless appliances. There is a Bosch washer and dryer IN THE UNIT, not down the hall. We were able to watch TV on her flatscreen via an iPad (via our own adapter), though she also has a Google Chromecast. Her WiFi was fast according to our sixteen year old.
Most importantly, the bathroom is new. The tile work is clean and modern as are the fixtures. Water pressure is terrific and is hot on demand.
One of the apartment's best features is Keiko, Joyce's cat. She is sweet, affectionate and playful. Being former "cat people", we were looking forward to staying with her. She couldn't have been a better roommate.
The Gowanus / Park Slope location was virtually perfect. It is a short two block walk from a subway stop with three train lines. Plus there is a very well stocked bodega on the corner which we visited several times.
Being our first airbnb experience, we had no idea what to really expect. After staying at Joyce's apartment, I can say it surpassed all of my expectations. It is a real gem.
Thank you, Joyce.
Thanks for the kind review! It was my first Airbnb hosting experience too, so thanks for making is so easy and pleasurable. Hope you can stay again.
