Hey, I'm Tansal!
New York, New York, United States · Member since May 2013

By day, I'm a manager at a company that makes computer-animated feature films. By night, I sing with a non-profit avocational choir, which has given me the opportunity to perform with major orchestras and rock bands and taken me on tour to Mexico and England. I had a great time staying at an Airbnb flat in London and became an instant fan of the experience - so much better than hotels!

I love traveling to cities and historic sites. Some of my favorite places are Turkey, Peru, Taiwan, Paris, Budapest, Prague, Vienna, Dubrovnik, San Francisco. I will never forget the beauty of nature and the ruins near Izmir, or the beaches and coves in the south of Turkey; the Sacred Valley near Cuzco, Peru, and the winding path between the mountains of the Andes; nor the stillness of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Glacier National Park in Montana, and the Grand Canyon. I like to get a feeling for the air and vibe of places I visit, and to get to know the locals. I've been fortunate to have friends in many of the countries I've visited.

As reflected in my daily life, I'm most passionate about movies and music and can engage in brief, friendly conversation or deep, passionate discussion, depending on the interest level of the acquaintance. I appreciate lovingly prepared food and so what I miss the most from my travels is usually the memorable meals.

I'm a pretty low-maintenance guest. If I have a comfortable bed, a shower with stable water temperature, and wifi, I'm happy. I'm quiet and respectful of my neighbors in my own apartment, and the same way when staying as a guest in someone else's home. When I travel, I like to plan a few things in advance and to leave the rest to mood and serendipity. Work keeps me pretty busy so that means I like quick weekend getaways, especially when within driving distance. I've been very lucky to travel with compatible people, but I'm also interested now to learn what kind of traveler I might be when going solo. I hope Airbnb will help me in my adventures!
