Since I was a little boy I’ve always been interested on traveling.
My mother worked in a travel agency and since I was 5 years old we would travel on an airplane or bout to discover new cultures and sites, this always was my favorite hobby. I studied tourism in a technical institute and when I was 17 years old I was offered an experience for 6 months as an animator on the Malta Island in the Mediterranean Sea, I didn’t hesitate for a second. This is where my adventure started! I fell in love immediately for the tourism life, how to make people who come for vacations feel good, and to know how make them have a unique and unforgettable experience so that once they return home they can remember the great moments they spent during their vacations.
It was on the year 2002 when I decided to start a career in the tourism world and maybe one day have my own hotel. Everything continued for a whole season. In this time I visited countries like the Maldives (Indian Ocean), Egypt (Sharm El Sheik), Greece (Peloponnese), Sardinia (Italian island), Monte Bianco (France) and on a cruise ship (Msc Fantasia) around the Mediterranean Sea.
After working a total of 12 seasons I met my girlfriend Chiara on the Maldives and after a while we decided to be together and rent a bar in Cinque Terre (Lerici) so we can get out of the resort routine but after one season working we found out that Italy is too strict and has too high taxes which was counterproductive. So in little time we decided to visit Costa Rica to find work.
Our first motivation to choose Costa Rica was the fact that it’s the only country in the Americas that doesn’t have an army which seemed like a perfect choice for opening a hotel, restaurant or pizzeria for its security. Later on we found out that also the country and its people have a lot to contribute to our life. After knowing all Costa Rica in less than a month and a half, thanks to Steven and Karen, two American friends we met back in Italy, they showed us Playa Garza (Nosara, Guanacaste) where we found this beautiful place for rent… and the rest is history.
We had a good start, brining over a lot of people to the hotel and restaurant and putting more publicity on the internet. Unfortunately, Chiara realized that she wanted a different experience in another country and we decided together that I would continue managing the hotel alone. And now here I am, it’s been some months since then. And this activity became my responsibility and I can feel joy of seeing my lifelong dream come true, whereas before I could only hope to manage my own hotel like the one I use to go to when I was a child. Now that my love for the sea and the beach is so great, I hope that this activity lasts for the rest of my life.
