Good host, Micha is a very nice guy.
i spent a good moment at his place.
micha and thee live in a lovely (and rare) wooden house in the heart of bangkok. their place was comfortable, quiet, clean, it had a nice garden and quite a bit of wildlife for being in the city (squirrels, birds, cats), and it was within 3 minutes walking distance to the skytrain and easily accessible to all bangkok has to offer. we stayed there for 2 weeks and it quickly felt like home. micha and thee also made incredible hosts! highly recommended for anybody on a budget, it doesn't get better (and cheaper) than this in the middle of bangkok. thanks for the stay guys, sorry we didn't have a chance to say good bye! (: xx

I had a very pleasant stay at Micha's house. It's an old colonial wooden building with garden in the middle of the city (close to Sathorn and a 10 minutes walk from Silom). The room is very basic, but I didn't expect any luxury things and was totally fine with it. It's useful to have some mosquito spray in the evening. Not necessary for the room, but if you want to spend some time outside the house in the garden, which is very idyllic and quiet.
Micha was very kind and helpful in many aspects. Due to his 8 years stay in Bangkok he knows a lot of Thai Society and can give many informations about living in Bangkok.
I'd definitely return to this place if I come back to Bangkok.
That is a nice old house, i really liked it. Micha is friendly and helpfull. One thing is, it was a little bit far away from the station for me.
If you want a very quiet place to stay,in a lovely neighborhood, a reasonably priced place to stay and a place to stay where you are completely left alone, this is a good one. I can't say our hosts were friendly at all which I was completely not expecting. Our place was pretty funky, the laundry was broken, lights didn't work and the smell of cat pee was pretty intense. We had to burn incense to try and soften the odors. Also many cat fights. I was hoping for a cat connection but that didn't happen either. I would guess in the beginning of hosting this place it had a better deal going on but something has definitely changed. Not much attention at all to making it a nice place for guests, either by people connections or by just having it cared for. The previous reviews were why we came. Friendly gay couple and great cats. That wasn't our experience in the least. But that aside, we still extracted the good and made the most of it and the mostly quiet space with bird sounds was very nice in a big city environment. However, we would not return.
MICHA AND THEE WERE KIND AND HELPFUL AND SUPER ABOUT HELPING ME FIND MY WAY AROUND. ALSO KINDLY ARRANGED MY RIDE TO THE AIRPORT IN THE EARLY HOURS WHEN MY PLANE WAS LEAVING VERY EARLY. THE PLACE WAS QUIET WITH NO STREET NOISE AT NIGHT AND LOCATED NEAR THE SKY TRAIN STATION WHICH MADE IT MUCH EASIER TO TO CHETAHET MARKET AND OTHER POINTS OF INTEREST. THERE'S A PRIVATE BATHROOM AROUND THE BACK WITH A THAI STYLE SHOWER WITH HOT WATER WHICH WAS A LIFE SAVER WHEN ONE COMES BACK HOT AND DIRTY. I RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE WHO WANT PRIVACY AN A GARDEN SETTING WITH BIRD SONG IN THE MORNINGS AND EVENINGS.
This is a very cost effective and quiet place to stay near the financial area and skytrain. Thee and Micha were very sweet and helpful in finding their place. It is off a small soi and we could see how it may be missed if you're not familiar with the small winding streets of Bangkok.
Thee greeted us and showed us to the room which has a private entrance and small kitchenette: frig, toaster, teapot and microwave! It is simple standard asian-style accomodations. After staying in Bamboo huts, we called this very nice, but If this is your first trip to Asia, you may want to stay at a big hotel. The bathroom was average but the hot water worked well and we were in the custom of bringing our own TP by this point in our travels.
By asian style I mean simple: it is a futon on the floor and there isn't a lot of "furniture" to put your things on per se. There IS a nightstand and place to hang clothes if needed.
Thee and Micha also arranged for a taxi to fetch us in the middle of the night (230am) to take us to the airport. I think if they hadn't done this we would have had to walk a long way to flag one. . .
Overall, nice, clean, quiet place to stay.
Cool house! Cool location! Lots of crazy cats though!
I stayed for ten days over Christmas and new year and had a very enjoyable stay. Michael went on holidays while I was there so I met him only very briefly but he seemed like a very kind and helpful guy. The house is great because it's in the city centre yet it's very quiet and peaceful. It's in a dead end street and surrounded by a big garden so you don't here and traffic at all, only the sound of birds and frogs!
The only negative points for me are that the room is quite basic, the bathroom is at the back of the house and nothing at all is lockable. Although I didn't have any problems, and Micha assured me that it was very safe and that he hasn't had any problems, I still felt a little uneasy leaving all my valuables, passport etc in a place that was completely unlocked.
Nevertheless, I had a most enjoyable stay and would definitely stay there again.
