I once sat on a poisonous caterpillar. So if you are a poisonous caterpillar, I'd watch yourself around me. Otherwise, I'm a big goof and love to fuss over people :)
Jamie's place was perfect for my brief 3-night stay in Memphis for a music festival and just to see the sights. Jamie was away but her friend was there to greet me and help if I needed anything. She was very friendly and accommodating, and offered some fresh fruit and other culinary delights that she was cooking up during my stay. Communication with Jamie was very easy and everything went very smoothly even though she was out of town.
Jamie's BnB is an old home in a charming quiet neighborhood in Memphis and is very central for exploring the various different sections of the city. There were a few other folks staying there giving it a the BnB or Hostel type atmosphere. Everyone was super friendly and my room was very quiet for a good night's sleep. The other reviews of the property (see the other listings) all seem very accurate and the rooms are definitely a great value and better than staying at an over-priced, boring hotel. Save your money for other touristy things like Graceland and Stax Records, and be sure to get some Memphis BBQ!
Jamie wasn't available for our stay, but she had a capable proxy greet us and show us around the house. Nevertheless, she regularly checked on us via AirBnB message.
The house was in a charming neighborhood, convenient for short trips to the Gonerfest locations. Our room faced the very quiet street and was right next to the shared bathroom. Everything was clean, if a bit aged, but it added to the charm. There were helpful notes throughout the house, which made finding dishes and snacks easy.
Thanks for a lovely, comfortable stay.
Jamie is super sweet and strives to make everyone feel at home. She loves meeting new people and is gifted with hospitality!
Jamie's place is a great place to stay in Memphis.Ran like an informal hostel there is always people coming and going and although the building's furnishings are quite old it is a unique experience and good value for money. It's in a great location (at most a ten minute taxi from any place of interest). I wouldn't recommend walking anywhere outside of the beale street area in memphis at night! Jamie was away when we stayed but Dallas was very helpful.
Jamie had everything ready for us: bed, room, breakfast, a lot of nice post-its all over, wrote us a huge mail with indications and made everything to make us feel alright.
Unfortunately, we didn't get to meet her. Just by chance, she happened to have to go away. But she left a friend of hers in charge, Dallas, who was very nice and made sure we were alright and didn't need anything.
The house is awesome and was clean and nice and warm.
Maybe the only thing on the bad side, it was a long walk to everywhere, but that's how Memphis is! It's actually near midtown, but with a car or a bike, it would have been perfect!
Too bad I didn't get to meet Jamie as she was out of town, but other than that I had an awesome stay here but I'm convinced she must be a great hostess 'cause this place simply rocks.
Out of the seven or so Airbnb places I stayed at, this is the one I enjoyed the most for a variety of reasons.
Value for buck 6/5 stars (so that's one bonus star!).
Great experience and great food! In a great location convenient to downtown. Worth the $40 per night easily
I really enjoyed my stay at Jamie's unhaunted B&B. She was very accommodating to my late arrival time, left out breakfast nibbles and even sent me away with a bag of yummy snack mix. The neighborhood seemed safe and was pretty quiet. The house is old and looks like Jamie is doing some renovating, but overall it was fairly clean and comfortable. I would recommend staying here if you would rather spend your money on something fun rather than on an overpriced Memphis hotel!
Had a great stay at Jamie's. Her house is really nice and in a perfect spot. Recommended to all!
Fantastic host and very interesting house, definitely not haunted!
I did not meet Jamie Young personally but we had constant communications thru e mails and sms messages as she come to Tacloban City to help the typhoon victims. She joined the Red Cross helps organizations and stayed in the qaurters and tents of these helps organization thats why she was not able to stay in my house but she did not ask a refund for booked period she paid.
though our exchange communications, i found Jaymie a nice lady, kind, helpful and a very good Samaritan because she come to Tacloban City to volunter her help for the typhoon victims.
