Thank you, Janet, for a wonderful stay in your lovely bungalow! My adult daughter and I LOVED this home in every way! It was so nice to have a serene home to relax in during our trip. It is beautiful, spacious, very clean, wonderfully decorated, and all the furniture was so comfortable. Staying at this home was such a good value, too. All that space, separate bedrooms, and a full kitchen to cook in (thank you for the extra, unexpected supplies!) made our 3 night stay so enjoyable. The neighborhood is charming and we took advantage of the nearby eateries on 11th Street - namely, Dacapo's Pastry Cafe (great coffee) and Lola diner (which also had fabulous home-made foods, including breakfast all day). Further west, there is a giant Kroger supermarket and gas station for any additional supplies we needed. This home is located in a perfect, central spot to easily get to anything in Houston. We will definitely will return to this wonderful bungalow for any future trips to the city.
Since we were in Houston for an entire month (December) we wanted to stay in a house rather than a hotel. When we found Janet's Bungalow we thought it'd be a good fit for us and boy was it! Janet was always accessible (phone/email) and even generously offered to leave a few toys (saved us packing them) for our toddler; they were great entertainment to him. Also worth noting is that while not specifically toddler proofed it was pretty hazard free.
The house while not big definitely has all the bases covered with an ample living/dining area, sizable kitchen, two bedrooms and one bathroom and a bonus hangout (ping pong & card tables in addition to the laundry) area in the back building. Janet has WiFi and cable TV (spare HDMI ports for plugging in a computer if desired). There is a studio apartment over the garage, also on Airbnb, and a shared driveway but we never had any troubles folks staying there (they were very nice).
A couple additional items worth mentioning are (awareness) that with a single bathroom there can be a queue at times and being an old house the wood floors (original?) can be quite loud, didn't bother us at all but may bother others.
Being from Houston (previously lived in Timbergrove) we were familiar with the Heights and what it has to offer. For those that aren't I believe Janet's bungalow is the historic district which is nice as all the houses are roughly the same look/feel; read no zero lot line town homes. There are a few restaurants within a short walk and bars (on White Oak) just a bit further. While not particularly far for accessing shopping, business districts or medical center a car would be recommended.
Janet stopped by to meet us and answer any questions we might have. The garage apartment was larger than we expected and met our needs. Neighborhood was quiet and very close to good eating places in the middle of the Heights. Had a great six weeks close to the relatives we were visiting for the holidays.
Perfect little house in the heights!! We stayed for 2 days during the thanksgiving holiday with our toddler and infant. The house was clean and close to all the fun spots in the heights. The garage has a ping pong table and seating area, which was perfect for my husband and I to hang out with friends while our children slept. We asked to check in a little early to hit nap time, and Janet was flexible and understanding. Definitely a great place to stay in one of the best neighborhoods in Houston.
Our host, Janet was great. She was personable, hands on and accessible. We loved the neighborhood as it felt young, up and coming with lots of good restaurants and super walking trails.
We enjoyed our stay at Janet's home. The neighborhood was great and the house was so comfortable. Janet was very quick to respond to any questions.
We really enjoyed our stay. The house was lovely and clean - with good location, easy to drive to everywhere. Janet was a great host - very friendly and responded to any questions in a second. My child (3-year old) very much appreciated the toys that Janet had left for us to play.
Absolutely loved Janet's cute bungalow in the Heights! We rented it for my wedding weekend as a place for the ladies to stay and get ready at, and it was just perfect in both location and size. The rooms were spacious and stylish, the little kitchen had everything we needed to make breakfast together, and we enjoyed relaxing on the front porch swing. If ever I have a friend or family member coming into town, I will highly recommend Janet's home as a place to stay!
Each fall my sister and I spend two weeks in Houston for the International Quilt Market and Festival. We bring our sewing machine, totes of fabric and props as well. This year we decided to try airbnb instead of hotels in hopes of a bit more room and comfort. We hit the jackpot in finding this Houston Heights Bungalow and our host Janet.
The home is clean and comfortable. The wifi worked without issues. The price was very reasonable. The neighborhood is quaint and quiet and close to wonderful shops and restaurants as well as a quick commute to the convention center. Janet was quick to respond and so sweet. We also rented the garage apartment for the driver of our trailer for a few days during set up. He arrived late the evening prior to our reservation and Janet was great to let him in a bit early. This was a fabulous experience for us and we will continue to rent from Janet in the years to come! EXCELLENT experience!
What wonderful guests Janet and her family were. They left our cabin spotless. Come again anytime!
Unfortunately, we weren't there to meet Janet but our housesitter said she was very interesting and our cats loved her - even the one that no one ever sees.
