Villa San Manuel is a wonderful place to stay, when you arrive in Palawan. The house is a beautiful oasis located on the just outside the city, in the residential area. The house is withdrawn from the surroundings, but not isolated, so you can enjoy the pleasant hum of local residents, but still remain undisturbed. The house is beautifully furnished and has all the amenities one could wish for, including WIFI(for the teenagers ). It was great to sit on the terrace in the garden with all the beautiful tropical plants and flowers, and enjoy the sounds of animals and birds in the mangroves in the backyard. If you want more activity, the center of Porto Princesa and several restaurants is only 5-10 minutes away by tricycle. We would absolutely recommend all who visit Porto Princesa, to stay in Villa San Manuel.
The place is simply as advertised and more!
Cynthia and her place was simply amazing. She picked us up from the airport and took us to the airport when we were leaving. Every thing we needed she, or her staff, made sure to accommodate us at every chance. Cynthia even arranged for a private tricycle driver to help take us around the city.
The house and grounds had me wishing I was staying for longer. It's quiet and secluded and each morning we were greeted with a sunrise over the ocean and the mangrove forest from our balcony.
There is even an outside dining area and the first night we just sat outside and caught up on emails, we were there primarily for work, and enjoyed the peaceful starry evening. At the time it was very windy so we never needed the ac, we just opened the windows and the breezy nights kept us cool.
Her place is perfect for a long term stay, and even just a few nights. I wish we could have stayed longer.
Everything you read about Cynthia is true. She is supernice and helpful. The Place is great, but a little away from the city, so make sure you know how to get home if you og out for dinner.
The stay at Cynthias house was great. It is a lovely place and we will be returning in a week to stay here again. I think I speak for all of us when I say we really liked it here- Also airport pick up was very nice and super handy.
WOW! Our experiences with Cynthia were just brilliant! She picked us up from the airport and took us to the villa, which we would never have found on our own. The villa was just perfect for our family of 4. There was fresh fruit and flowers along with cold water. The villa's simple, beautiful style made us feel at home. The fans kept us just the right temperature and her entire staff was super helpful. Internet, WIFI and TV were all good.
The quaint neighborhood reminded us of previous places we've lived - Ghana and Panama. The neighbors were warm and friendly and we were able to run and walk to places with ease. Just 8-10 minutes down the road to the right was the Mictotel which (as Cynthia mentioned) has a pool (for 300pesos pp) and a beach (free!) along with kayaks for rent (200pesos per boat/per hour). One day, we kayaked along the shore and past the mangroves and it was excellent. Another day, we spent the day at the pool and played on the beach.
The best day at Villa San Manuel was a day trip we took with Cynthia and her friendly staff to a beach called Nactabon (don't know if I'm spelling it right). We were able to enjoy the villa in the morning, a 45 minute ride the the beach (ONE OF MY FAVORITES in the WORLD!), BBQ lunch and lots of time playing in the waves. (BTW - no waves on the beach at the Microtel, but lots of kite surfing if you like that!) We relaxed on the beach and enjoyed each other's company.
The OTHER great thing that Cynthia did for us was to help us with the next leg of our journey. We were heading to El Nido and hadn't found the perfect place for our family, but SHE HAS THE PERFECT place... and we're headed there today.
I would recommend Cynthia and her Villa San Manuel to all hearty travelers in search of a quiet place outside the city center and an authentic experience in amazing Palawan!
This property is as outstanding as it looks. It is private, but the caretaker and his family are always present. The interior is large and comfortable, and decorated with attractive pieces of art. The kitchen is well equipped. The owner, Cynthia, had some basic food items in the fridge so that upon my late arrival I had bottled water, fruit, bread, and eggs for breakfast the next morning. Also very thoughtful was the pick-up and drop-off at the airport. She also gave me a ride into town a couple of times. Every day she came by to check if I needed anything.
There is a outdoor dining area with a nice table and chairs for 6 for dining al fresco. There is a BBQ grill, charcoal provided, and hammock. There is sattlelite (SIC) TV and a hard wired desk top computer. The wi-fi also works just fine.
You are about 15 minutes via motor scooter from the center of Puerto Princesa and about 10 minutes from an excellent super market and mall. You can go to the beach at the Microtel or pay PHP 300 per day (about US $7) to use their pool.
If you need hot showers, the water is at best room temperature, but that did not bother me, given the hot weather outside. Although there is air conditioning, I never used it. The many screened windows and 2 fans provided plenty of ventilation.
The property, location, and Cynthia's thoughtfulness would lead me back to this property when I return to Puerto Princesa.
We stayed at Cynthia's beautiful place for 10 days and it was absolutely amazing! Everything about the whole experience just blew us away. Cynthia was kind enough to both pick us up from/drop us off at the airport, and welcomed us into her home splendidly. The house was very clean, had plenty of space, and a huge gated yard with a beautiful garden filled with butterflies! We even rented a motorbike from Cyrhia which we used to get around and see the wonderfully beautiful sights of Puerto Pricesa. Definitely would recommend stay to anyone looking for a beautiful getaway!
We lived in Cynthia's Villa San Manuel for 6 weeks. Lovely decorated Bali-style Home. Good aircon en well equipped kitchen. Very hot shower with own water-supply, so never shortage of water (which is common in PP in summer). 8 minutes walk to lovely white sand beach and Microtel resort. The house is surrounded by a large garden and is very quiet. Expect wake-up calls by the many village-cocks around. Our favorite time of day was dusk to stroll around in lovely village San Manuel. Very good located to University, Sabang/underground river and shopping mall. Hire a car at mr. Plong or ask Cynthia for a motor cycle. The compound is guarded and caretaken by Wilma, who is lovely doing cooking (at request) cleaning and washing and has her own little house at the entrance.
We had a great time. Will surely rent the house again when we return to Puerto princesa net time.
