Abby was very helpful as my wife and I planned our stay in Rome. She helped us figure out which sites to see during our stay there (as many things are closed on Sunday/Monday, the first 2 days of our 4-day stay), and advised us our arrival time into the city. She was always quick to write us back whenever we had questions, and we very much appreciated her politeness and friendliness. We would definitely recommend having her as a host.
The apartment is definitely an old-fashioned treasure of sorts. Not quite as populated with furnishings as the pictures showed (Abby was actually moving out later that week), one still got the sense of age and a feeling of going back in time. The apartment itself doesn't offer much, but one doesn't make plans to stay indoors when in Rome. There was actually a lot of construction going on throughout the apartment complex, which started early in the morning, so there was extra motivation to get up and going in order to escape the constant drilling and hammering noises surrounding the space. All in all, everything you need is there (even a washer and drying rack), but plan on spending a majority of your time enjoying the Roman attractions.
Nestled just a couple of blocks away from the walls of Vatican City, the apartment proves to be a convenient starting point when visiting St. Peter's or the Vatican Museums (the earlier you visit, the better). There are bus stops just down the block and a Metro station within 5 minutes walking distance from the front door of the complex; this is very convenient, as the Vatican is pretty far west of city center and you will need to commute every day to see the other attractions. My wife and I felt more comfortable taking the bus when traveling at night, as it drops you off closer to the apartment, or getting off the Metro at Ottoviano station (Cipro station, 1 stop over, is actually closer to the apartment but also comes off as less safe an area at night.) Overall a convenient location that feels completely safe in daylight but (like anywhere) feels less so when walking in the dark.
OVERALL: We would recommend staying with Abby, though we're pretty sure this particular apartment will not be available any longer since she has moved out by now. I'm sure any future apartments Abby may host would not disappoint guests.
Perfect location near the Vatican and very close to the station.
However, the kitchen and bathroom are really small.
Abby's flat was perfect. The location was as advertised - central and literally 5 min walt to Vatican. The flat itself was cosy and quaint. Small bathroom and kitchen but for us it was just right. Abby herself was wonderful - we were a bit lost finding the place from the metro at 11pm and she came out to find us. Also gave us some good insider tips. Would happily come back! Thanks Abby!
Perfect! The apartment was exactly as I was led to believe from the listing, and Abby was a wonderful hostess - she made some great recommendations for both Rome and her neighborhood, left out a few travel guides that ended up being very helpful, and even had a couple extra travel adaptors/converters for me to use (very convenient as I managed to leave mine behind at my last destination). Would come back and stay here again and again if she wasn't moving back to the States!
Abby was a fantastic host! The apartment was clean and spacious. The metro was within walking distance as was Vatican City! There is also a really yummy and inexpensive gelato shop on the corner. Overall a wonderful experience!!
We had a great stay in Abby's apartement. It was conveniently located near Cipro Metro station on line A, on Bus 492 route and very close to the Vatican. Abby had left many books about Rome on the table for us which was very nice. The double bed is loft style. Since we are two mature corpulent adults who use the bathroom during the night, it wasn't great for the two of us so I slept on the couch and it worked out fine for us.
Abby was really nice and the apartment was absolutely satisfactory. Sleeping, cooking, showering...all good. Thanks again!!!
Very cozy. Great location: Close to the Vatican, grocery store, farmacy, Metro station and every other facility you might want. Easy to get a taxi from right outside the door. Decent security. Quiet for a centrally placed location.
A little cold indoors in April considering that the municipality has turned off the heating everywhere, but that applies to the whole city. Plus, you don't go to Rome to stay indoors, do you!
Host made me feel very much at home. Just looking at the picture of the apartment now makes me feel like I want to go back!
We stayed at Abby's place for 5 nights in April, and it was wonderful. The flat is lovely, just behind a little garden with a cute fountain where you can chill out after walking around Saint Peter and the Vatican, both within a 5-min walk. The flat is just as shown in the pictures, with lots of books if you ever happen to get bored of Rome (which is highly unlikely !). Although near Via Candia, the place is very quiet (but you might hear a lonely italian cat meowing when the sun sets).
We warmfully recommend Abby's place. Thanks for the stay Abby !
Abby was a delightful guest who took many opportunities to enjoy the great neighborhoods of Portland by going for long exploratory walks each day! She was delightful to host in my home! I would welcome her back any time and hope to keep in touch with her.....

I had a great hosting experience with Abby. She's very friendly and respectful of the house rules. She has left the apartment in good conditions. Communicate with her was easy before, during and after her stay. I hope you will come back soon! I definitely recommend her!!
It was so nice to share what I know about my town with Abby because she realy want to discover and to experiment what belongs to Marseille!
And I'm really happy to know her .
Abby was perfect. Nice, on time, very respectful.
It was a pleasure to receive Abby.
I didn't meet Abby.
But she was very friendly and easygoing!
The apartment was as i let it to her when I left.
Hope to see her the next time she will come to Paris.
Very kind guests!
We found our flat very clean, with a nice message for us!
See you soon in Elsass Abby!
Great guests, left the apartment very clean even though you could tell they took advantage of the kitchen-- which I'm glad! Use it! :)
Easy communication and right on time! Highly recommended.
