I was born in Indiana and moved to New York City from New Orleans. I live for good people, good music, and good food. As they say down there in the Crescent City, "laissez les bons temps rouler."

My stay with Scotty was an unmitigated pleasure from beginning to end. What a guy.
Scotty is a considerate and respectful host, as well as being a really fun person who I now consider a good friend.
The apartment itself is awesome - with a swimming pool and gym in the basement being really great features. It's also only a short half an hour train journey into the centre of Manhattan, which is really convenient.
Could not recommend staying here more highly.
We had a generally nice stay while living at Scotty's apartment, and the location is as advertised, with proximity to Halsey Street Station on the L train. There are, however, a few things which future air bnb users should be aware of before choosing to stay here:
-The photographs do not reflect the current state of the apartment. As the host was in the process of moving, the only furniture available to us were the sofas. Neither of the two tables on display here were available to us, so we had to eat our dinner on our laps. The window in the living room is bricked up, and there was no natural light because the door to the front room remained locked during our stay, so we had to use flashlights to look for anything we had left around the room. The bathroom looks clean in the photo, but was in fact quite dirty.
-The bedroom is billed as a private room, but it has only a semi-transparent curtain keeping it from the kitchen. The symbol for a private room on air bnb is a door that locks. This didn't. Indeed, the room is not really a room, but a loft bed platform above the kitchen.
-The page claims to have access to a balcony with a hammock, but because Scotty's door was always locked we did not. The issue of the locked bedroom doors meant that there was also no air circulating through the apartment. Even in colder weather it was hot and stuffy.
This place has a hot tub on the roof. Seriously, this was amazing. Myself and my girlfriend had an awesome here, it exceeded our expectations and was so worth it. I would advise anyone looking for a place in New York to stay here. Scotty is an awesome guy! The Deli on the corner has great breakfast, do not pass this up. Thank you Scotty for an unforgettable place to stay! You da man.
Scotty is an incredibly warm, genuine and easy-going host who made feel like we'd known each other for years, he welcomed me home with a cocktail each night and we had a bit of a jam session and great conversations. This is a wonderful, safe apartment, full of character and awesome common facilities in a really fascinating neighborhood. I came home one night to find the end of the street closed off for block party with local artists, musicians, dancers, and families. Met some great AirBnbers and neighbors as well over a few days. The train station is less than 4mins walk (although this might be a little bit daunting at first if you're coming home very late at night, typically police are assigned to the station exit to ensure safe return home - it doesnt bother the locals). The local deli serves a decent breaky if you don't want to cook too. Thanks for making my stay a memorable one Scotty!
I lived with Scotty for seven weeks in the ‘Modern, Chic Colourful Brooklyn Loft’. Scott is overall an ecstatic bubble of positive energy. He is the most courteous and wonderful host I have yet to come across. Scott is a barrel of laughs and now a great friend. He is also a great source at connecting someone in the right direction in the all the boroughs of the city!
The location and space couldn’t be better. Situated right on the L line, you’re sure to be in any part of the city between twenty and thirty minutes! The room was very cozy and warm, and the mattress is heavenly… Just try to get up in the morning, it’s that comfortable! The apartment layout is awesome with a grand living room space and an equipped and ready to use kitchen.
In addition to the perfect layout, Scott and his roommate always keep a clean and tidy household and always look after their own chores. It’s nice to know that you can trust the people you live with and establish spirited relations with whomever that may be. I was really excited to make many new friends, beginning with the host, extended out to acquaintances and people within this secure neighbourhood. Not to mention the wonderful folk in the building!
Without any doubt I would definitely choose to stay with Scotty again. He’s a magnificent musician and has vocals like you’ve never heard. He is absolutely the person to bring a smile to your face each morning! I’m sure since creating our bond, we will remain friends for many years to come, as I welcome him to my home city of Toronto at his leisure.
Scott made me feel right at the comfort of my own home and I am very grateful for his most gracious hosting. Thanks Scotty!
Staying at Scotty's was awesome! Even though he couldn't be here when I arrived, he made everything easy for me and was available for any question I could have had (which I didn't cause he did great).
I was greeted by his roommate Dan who is a very sweet person. They made me feel at home and I had an amazing time there.
I was lucky that Scotty played some of his tune, he is a fantastic musician.
I consider myself extremely lucky I got to know those guys.
You have enough privacy if you wanna keep it to yourself but they are happy to interact if you are up for it. We got to chat, laugh and hang out. They are beautiful persons.
The place is right by the L train station that takes you to Union Square in 20 minutes. You can find nice places to eat and go out for drinks at about every stop along the way.
I would totally recommend staying with those 2, you won't regret it.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Great place in Bushwick. Scotty is a great guy, super hospitable and makes you feel at home right away. The room is big with high ceilings, definitely felt like a private space. Nice, safe building right next to the Halsey L train stop, super convenient.
We had a really fun time in NYC, partly because of our stay at Scotty. The Subway station is close by, easy to acces and had great connection with other subway lines downtown in manhattan.
His place is great if you want to visit the city or want to travel around Brooklyn or Queens. Also easy to get from or to the Airport. Scotty is a friendly guy and open for socializing. He gave is travel advice and the accomodation was neat. We got our own key and we could easily acces the sauna, jacuzzi and pool. The view on the roof was nice. The building/loft actually gave us the feeling it was an hotel. We would def give scotty another visit.
My overall experience during my 9-day stay at Scotty's was truly positive.
Scotty is a very welcoming, friendly and fun host. He makes you feel at home and is very kind. My room was very well kept, however the bathroom could have been cleaner.
The apartment and the amenities (gym, pool, sauna, rooftop) were as described and made me feel the 'true' Brooklyn lifestyle.
The area seems to be safe, many latinos around which run good small shops to get everything essential you need. Subway is a 5min walk, thus very convenient. Price/value for this apartment is very good and hence recommendable!
Scotty was that rare guest that not only adds his creative self to your home or in our case farm, but is also very considerate. We got to know him sitting by the fire and over breakfast, he added interesting conversation and a few songs. He left the Yurt neat and tidy. We hope he and his Christina will return soon!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED GUEST
