I'm a PhD student in sociology at Yale University. I use my research to travel as far and wide as possible!
Sorcha's apartment was great. It was extremely spacious, very clean, and had everything we were looking for. It was an easy 10-15 minute walk to the center of the Yale campus. Sorcha wasn't there to meet us but had a friend give us the keys (and was able to accommodate a last-minute request for an early morning arrival!)
We were in New Haven for my college reunion and found Sorcha's place to be well located, convenient to Yale (off-street parking in the back!), and well-stocked with kitchen necessities. It was also a pleasure to work with Sorcha herself: she was always very prompt in replying to my emails and thorough in her responses. I would recommend her place, particularly if you will have a car. Sorcha was not there in person during the time of our stay--she had a friend meet us with the keys--but she made sure we had what we needed!
I did not get to meet Sorcha but she still managed to extend herself to make arrangements with a friend to see to it that we could be accommodated. Thank you! The apartment was big, The sunny kitchen especially had a nice, big tall table with stools and a great view into the neighborhood where it was pleasant to sit with coffee.
The apartment had a fun vibe that enabled us to imagine what it might be like to be grad students at Yale using off-campus housing. The layout was familiar because I also stayed in a similar, typically New England three family house when I was in school in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston. And yes, there were books everywhere :-) The bed was big and comfortable and the neighbors were quiet with little gardens in the back. The walk to town and all the attractions of Yale we simple and we had great weather. Thank you for hosting us on such short notice!
Sorcha was a fantastic host! Her book collection is a treat!
Sorcha's place is amazing and extremely well located, I had an awesome time.
Great, big apartment right by the Yale hockey rink. Wonderful stay!
Sorcha's well-appointed apartment, on the edge of Yale University, was a lovely and convenient place for a New Haven getaway. We spent as much time hanging out there as being tourists! It was great to have use of her kitchen, the Xbox made for some fun entertainment, and it felt safe and easy to have an off-street parking spot. Plus, her collection of books, organized by color, were great to peruse. The bed was super-comfy, and the neighborhood charming. The upstairs neighbors have an active child, so less tolerant late/light sleepers will want to bear this in mind. Sorcha was generous and easy to deal with, and there's no question we'd stay there again.
Sorcha was incredibly communicative and welcoming when I stayed recently at her 1br apartment. The place really is huge, and perfectly situated for anyone visiting New Haven for Yale-related reasons. I was able to walk pretty much anywhere that I wanted to go (in the snow, no less), and had an inviting and warm place to lay my head.
A much, much better value than the local hotels.
I hosted Sorcha twice within a couple weeks. Both times she was very nice and clean and considerate. I'd let her stay with me anytime!
Sorcha was a great guest! She seemed very nice in the short time we were able to talk. I would definitely host her again without hesitation.
Excellent guest :-)
