Juan was a great host. Gave great tips on what to do. The location is good too, 15 minutes from the Tenorio national park. As for the rooms, they are nice and clean. Also, there is a small soda where you can eat very well for cheap (4-5$ per person). Ask Juan, he'll let you know!
Nuit idéale pour notre besoin, à savoir : bien situé, dans un endroit calme avec parking, aménagement classique et propreté ok. Bon rapport qualité prix.
Juan was excellent gave many ideas for activities around the local area and set up a river tour in Cano Negro which was great.
We loved our stay at Hotel Cacao! Bijagua was one of the most beautiful places we visited in Costa Rica- the view from the balcony is spectacular. Our room was large and clean with a great bathroom with a big HOT shower. We used the kitchen a lot which helped us save money, and the local soda was delicious and cheap.
Juan was so helpful, organising us a taxi to Tenorio national park. He also organised horse riding which was great fun. He gave us lots of friendly advice.
I must also mention Juans mother, who fed us at every opportunity - giving us homemade tortillas and delicious papaya stew, and on our last night bringing us fried bananas. So sweet and so friendly despite our terrible spanish.
We would love to come back :)
Séjour sympa, adéquat pour une ou deux nuits.
Hotel Cacao was perfect for our needs. Rooms were large and bright. Grounds were beautiful. Juan was a great host. We will be back.
We had a wonderful time at Hotel Cacao! The grounds and building are beautiful and taken care of very well. Grace is very sweet and helpful. Juan was also very friendly and accommodating.
The only problem we had was that upon our arrival we were told the $35 dollars is for a shared dorm room, and not a private room as listed on the AirBnb description. Juan apologized for the mix-up and the listing will hopefully be updated soon.
Thanks for the wonderful memories :)
The hotel was located adjacent up a nice small town. Juan did everything to help our stay be more enjoyable. He offered advice, answered question, gave us food and showed us a local frog which he nursed back to health. Could not have asked for a better experience!
Un lugar tránquilo y muy b´sico. El hombre muy amable y el entorno encantador
We loved hotel cacao it is a very family oriented place, and Bijagua is definitely worth visiting for its chill green atmosphere, toucans, and of course, national parks. We liked it so much here that we decided to extend our stay. Natalia was here for a few days and she was really helpful and sweet, but we mostly deal with Juan and his mother Grace, who makes amazing tortillas and taught me some great cooking tips. The location is wonderful, not far from the main road but far enough not to be noisy. The rooms are clean and as I mentioned, the staff (especially Juan!) are lovely and attentive, and helpful beyond what would be expected. The only criticism I would really have is that the internet doesn't work in the hotel rooms (which is how it was advertised to us before we booked our stay), you have to sit outside in front of Juan's room to use it, and it is sometimes quite slow. Easy fix, though. All in all we had a really great time and enjoyed the company of Natalia, Juan, Grace, Sebastian, Lily and Cindy immensely!
