Hi thanks for looking at our Hotel Cacao, we will be happy to host you. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
The hotel and surrounding area was very beautiful. But do note, it is very far from Rio Celeste. It was a $50 taxi ride round trip to get there. Also the mud baths would've been an hour and a half drive one way. So we did not go.
Très jolie auberge, cuisine extérieure accueillante et hôte prêt à nous aider pour nos activités. Un petit "soda" à proximité ou les plats étaient délicieux. Définitvement à recommander dans les alentour de Rio Celeste!
Juan and his mother made us feel completely at home at Hotel Cacao. We received excellent recommendations about local things to do. Juan is bilingual and allowed me to practice my Spanish as much as I wanted to. The property is beautiful with flowers and birds. The locals are friendly and helpful. If you like a country and mountain setting all in one, this is your place.
Juan was an excellent host, he made us feel at home at all times. The bedrooms are big, very clean and comfortable. His mum has cooked us the best breakfast in Costa Rica! We made friends with other wonderful guests of the lodge, so it really felt like a big family. There is a very good and cheap soda right across the street where you can eat typical local food which was very tasty. We highly recommend staying with Juan for a very authentic and warm experience! Juan was friendly and informative. Room was basic but clean and functional, and the soda down the streets was perfect for food.
Juan was great! He was really helpful and always available for everything we needed. Just some things to note, there is no washer and drier available as the post states. Kitchen was shared and at a distance away from the rooms. About 45 minutes from Rio Celeste and 1.5 hours away from Las Hornillas. On a side note, the Hornillas (mud baths) were not worth the $. Otherwise, our experience was great at El Cacao Hotel. Clean and spacious.
A friendly little hotel, surrounded by nature and great views of the volcanoes (very Jurassic Park). Perfectly located for exploring the surrounding area with a soda and shops close by. Juan was so helpful with advice, a great place to stay, thank you.
Nice place and clean. Was very helpful with our dayplans and gave some great tips and tricks about the area. There was no breakfast at the hotel but just 2 min walk there was a nice soda where you could buy a typical tico breakfast in various styles for not more then $5. Olso there is a kitchen you are welkom to use if you want to make your own.
We spend 5 nice days in cacao hotel . Very quite place . We were 12 , two family of 6 , and reserve 2 bedrooms .
Juan was very helpful to help us organize or trip . ( horses riffing , frog tour , tenorio park , cano negro , ring on de la viera).
We can use the big and useful outdoor kitchen to prepare our lunch . The graden was beautiful with a lot of flowers and we can see many colibris and other birds.
The really love our time here .
Very comfortable and safe stay. Juan is very nice and helpful! The only two things for a heads up is the neighbor has a rooster and while this hotel is listed a B&B, no breakfast is offered. However these issues are easy to get over because you are so tired from traveling and exploring you can toon out the rooster or bring ear plugs if your a light sleeper. Even though no breakfast is served, their is a kitchen available. Even better their is a Soda about 3 min walk down the street with breakfast, lunch and dinner. Cheep and good food, excellent coffee made the traditional way. The rooms are clean, spacious and the showers offer hot water. Lovely grounds and view to sit around relax and take it all in.
