Incredible views, super modern (yet warm) architecture. Loved the sliding glass walls. Even though it was in the 80s everyday, the cross ventilation made the home very comfortable. This is the type of place that makes you want to move to LA. Tim was very quick and accommodating in his communication. Will try and stay here every time I go back to LA.
My wife, infant son, and I had an amazing stay at Tim's Eagles Nest. We had the distinct pleasure of staying in this beautiful home. Tim is an amazing host, very responsive, and the space is filled with thoughtful touches that make staying there a delight.
The view is more spectacular than the pictures suggest, and we have every intention of returning for another stay.
The location is exactly what you want if you're looking for a good time on the east side. Right off Glendale, easy access to major highways, but walking distance to great coffee and restaurants. 5 minute drive to trader joes.
We made a road trip and to calm down a little bit at the end we stayed at Tim's beautiful house.
It is quiet there, but also very central.
The view is amazing, and the kitchen has everything you need.
We were hearing the guests in the apartment on top of us when they were walking around, but that was ok, because they were sleeping at night as well ;)
We really enjoyed that beautiful place and would definitely come back again !
Our stay at Tim's Silver Lake home was top notch. It was easy to get access to the place - he was working at the time, so just a quick direction from him and we were good to go - and everything was exactly as awesome as it looks in the photos. Any questions we had along the way, Tim was there with an answer. But he also gave us plenty of space to do our own thing.
Now - the unit! I can't imagine a better view in all of Silver Lake. Even with all the windows and westerly view, the unit stayed cool thanks to the sliding doors. Get to hot? Nothing a quick turn of the air conditioning couldn't fix. The kitchen had everything we needed for our modest snacking. It was super clean and having access to a washer and dryer is a huge perk. There was some slight neighbor noise because the unit downstairs is also available for rent, so it's something to be aware of if you're a light sleeper.
We were able to easily navigate to various restaurants and coffee shops in the area, and pop down to the reservoir for an evening stroll.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it. We'll definitely be back!
This place was amazing! i wish i could live here!! It is very modern and has amazing views. Big sliding doors that open up the patio and bring in great california air! Tim was super nice and always responsive! he greeted me as i arrived and showed me around! ( most airbnb places just leave you a key!) the patio facing the lake is absolutely amazing i love the couch on the deck! over all i would stay here again in a heart beat and was a little sad to leave! OH also time has a full set of cast irons ( im a big fan of cooking on cast irons so this made me very happy!! ) Over all a very magical stay!
This was my second time staying at Tim's beautiful home. I have rented the down stairs before (absolutely obsessed) and was able to rent the upstairs this time around. The studio is perfect for 2 people and was more than enough for just myself.
Tim is AMAZING! The perfect host and someone I truly enjoy catching up with while I am in town!
Suggestions, check out the wine bar down the street! If you are a rose fan ask for a bottle of the Mip (Made in Provence) its $20 and my new favorite Rose!!! A must for taking in the sunset on the beautiful deck!
Also, head down to Ginger Grass for dinner!
I rented this place for my parents who've never Airbnb'd before and were reluctant to try it, but after seeing this extraordinary apartment and meeting Tim, they had nothing but great things to say-- about the view, the great location, the chic decor and their accommodating, friendly and available host.
Thank you, Tim, for making their stay so memorable! My mom (who is, by the way, impossible to please) was worried if I left a good review here, the place might not be available the next time they come to visit :), but I have to be honest and say to anyone considering this place, that it is absolutely stunning and you should have no doubts as to the quality of your stay if you choose to rent this gem of an apartment.
Response from Tim:
Thank you Anna for sending your parents. Very kind of you. I am hoping to host you some day as well!
My partner and I had a magical stay at Tim’s fabulous studio overlooking the Silver Lake Reservoir. The views are breathtaking. We hardly wanted to leave the house we were so enamored with the view. We also marveled at the architecture of Tim’s house and huge decks.
When we did venture out, we found ourselves in walking distance to coffee shops and restaurants & close to great tourist spots.
I like to jog & really enjoyed jogging around the Silver Lake Reservoir (a wonderful 2 mile jog).
My partner loves architecture and enjoyed exploring the world famous modern buildings right down the street.
Tim was a joy to interact with.
Our only regret is not staying longer!
Staying at Tim's was absolutely incredible in every way. We were lucky enough to stay for an extended period. Everything about the house is impeccable, the view (overlooking the lake and up to the hollywood sign) on its own is overwhelmingly beautiful, but the flow in the house, the open living dining, the well chosen pieces of furniture, the house is full of light, the big beautiful shower, the deep bath. (you can even see the hollywood sign from the bath!!) The photos you can see of the house are of course wonderful but the experience of being there in something else. Everything you could need or want is there - You just feel happy.
The house is Tim's labour of love - and a lot of love has been put into every detail. He made us feel so welcome in his place. Gracious and helpful and a genuinely great human who we will really miss - though we rarely saw him. The house was kept very clean. Spotless when we arrived and regular visits from professional cleaners kept it that way.
The internet is fast and the bed very comfortable. After huge days in L.A we slept extremely well, always waking up rested and full of energy and though it sounds cheesy - we really woke up every day with smiles on our faces. Evenings it was such a joy to return to Tim's mothership, grilling in the little courtyard and eating on the balcony. Cocktails as the sun goes down. What a life!
The location of Tim's house is also very easy to fall in love with. Silverlake has been voted America's most liveable suburb and it is a sanctuary in L.A, though close to the centre of everything. Silverlake has a village feel which was great for us coming from Europe, unlike some parts of L.A it feels totally manageable - great restaurants are in walking distance from Tim's - you can walk to the lake and go for a run, there's a basketball court near the lake if you want to shoot some hoops. We also did some pilates and personal training all very close by.
I travel a lot for my work and I've stayed in different places all over the world but in Tim's house, the *whole* really is greater than the sum of it's (amazing) parts. There is a peace about the place. A creativity. It's nurturing, healing and energising all at the same time. It's a wonderful L.A sanctuary.
Staying at Tim's was a truly magical time for us. One of those rare times in your life you think of as something you'll never forget. It actually converted my reluctant boyfriend to now wanting to live in Los Angeles. If you have a chance to stay here even for a few days - do it. This house has got to be the jewel of Silverlake airbnb. It is more than just enjoyable - it is totally inspiring.
Went here on vacation for a week with my girlfriend, and this is the perfect Airbnb listing if you're looking for an amazing, beautifully designed and affordable place to stay in Silver Lake. The only thing I'll say is that it's cozy (which we loved), but if cozy is not the way you like your living space described, this is probably not the place for you. For everybody else this just might be the perfect place to stay. Plenty of cleverly designed storage, great little kitchenette, walk-in shower with a beautiful skylight, a convertible sofa bed that's more comfortable than you'd think and a great little sitting area outside to drink your coffee and beer in the sunshine.
If you're thinking about staying in Silver Lake you probably don't need to be told much about it. Cool neighbourhood with lots of great stuff to see and do in the area, and all the amenities you could possibly need are within walking distance of even the laziest of travellers. We rented a car (tip: if you're new to LA trust me when I say you should spring for GPS) for the week and it was no problem to park the car every night.
Tim was a pleasure to deal with before our arrival as well as an incredibly nice guy when we met him during our stay. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Highly recommended.
