ich bin aus Norddeutschland in der Schweiz gestrandet, wander gern in den Bergen umher, segel auf den Weltmeeren herum und erfreue mich einer wunderbaren Arbeit.
My wife and I had a great time at Birgit's chalet. We had a car which made getting around much easier. It is only about 20 minutes outside of Lucerne in a great little town. We actually liked Weggis better than Lucerne. Birgit gave us a great suggestion for dinner: the Gothard Hotel. We had dinner right on the lake and watched a beautiful sunset. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks Birgit!
Steep hike up and down for people with out cars, but then again you get the view that way. We weren't terribly fond of the town, but there is a fantastic hike (follow bergwanderweg signs) going up from Birgit's street up to the top of the mountain. (steep mountain trail, be careful when wet!) We asked if there was Internet and she said no, unlike how the listing's amenities say. Lovely house and host, just not our favorite location in Switzerland.
very steep up the hill climb to reach the place it take 30 mins, coming down hill a bit easier. not an ideal place if you have luagage.
no taxi will take you up or down .
Response from Birgit:
but I pick them up at the station .... if they call me :-)
Birgit is an awesome person and I hope to see her again in the future!!
Birgit's chalet was a perfect place to spend a couple of days in Switzerland! We had a car -- so it was easy to travel into Lucerne or take a daytrip from her house. With Switzerland being quite pricey, it was nice to save money on our stay, and have someone to ask questions about what to see/how long it would take us to get there/her recommendations, etc. She also had a lot of helpful maps and guides.
The balcony is a great place to spend an evening or morning -- what a view!
Birgit was so helpful, after a day full of travel delays she was nice enough to pick us up at the ferry terminal at 10pm. One of my favorite things about travelling is arriving someplace at night and waking up in the morning to find yourself in an absolutely beautiful place. The view from her porch is AMAZING, with cowbells tinking in the backyard I enjoyed my coffee each morning. Know that the house is a good twenty minute walk uphill from the town, one day we did it three times! There is a market 10-15 min walking. You can go hiking in the hills simply by walking out the front door, we took the gondola up the Mtn and hiked back down to her house one day. I reccommend staying here a few nights, we added an extra on just to enjoy the area a bit more.
We really enjoyed staying in Weggis. The location is magnificent overlooking the lake and mountains surrounding Lucerne. Birgit is good fun and easy going. It is very comfortable to stay there. There is no breakfast but there is tea and coffee. There is a supermarket and bakery plus several restaurants in town. The walk back will exercise you.
Stay at Weggis was one of the best thing during our entire trip. The place is very easily accessible from Luzern & amazingly beautiful. Birgit was one the best host we met during our stay at various places. She made us very comfortable at her place and helped us with directions and little know how about the place. The place is very cozy with an amazing view. We really thank Birgit for being a very nice host. She was kind enough to drop us till Weggis on our way back. We hope to book her Chalet again whenever we plan our next trip to Switzerland
Our stay with Birgit was absolutely amazing. We felt right at home in her little Swiss Chalet. The town itself was very laid back and everyone was friendly. You have the chance to see mountains here and it is breath taking. Birgit even clears a shelve in her fridge for you! Just make sure you get the exact address ahead of time. You will probably get lost but hey thats what traveling is all about! :)
The stay at Birgit's place was great. I only had some problems finding it because my navigation device went crazy. Brigit is nice and helpful person. I would recommend it a lot.
