Ciao sono Valentina. Grande appassionata di viaggi, vi aspetto a Roma per farvi conoscere la mia splendida città.
The apartment was the most comfortable, cleanest, and convenient we have rented yet... and we have stayed in some great places!!
It truly is ALL about location. Vicolo Bologna is a two minute walk to the Ponte Sisto footbridge which crosses directly into the heart of Rome. Campo de Fiori and the street markets are a five minute walk beyond. The Vatican is a 15 minute walk north along the same side of the Tiber.
The surrounding area of Trastevere is lively, full of street life, amazing friendly restaurants, and small galleries and shops. We learned quickly to avoid the touristy restaurants near Campo de Fiori and Navona and to eat close by the apartment. In fact, many Romans come to Trastevere to eat and drink.
Valentina is an amazing hostess. She met us at the apartment, explained all the basics, recommended a handful of delicious restaurants, and gave us great advice. She also called a car service for us on the morning we left to go to the airport. (It was 45 Euros for the convenient car vs 55 E for a taxi for three people or 36 E for the train to the Trastevere station and a short taxi from the apartment.)
The apartment is beautiful and very comfortable. The terrace is private and stunning!! The kitchen is completely stocked with pots and pans and everything you need to cook at home. We made espressos and easy breakfasts before heading out every day. There is a clothes washer in the kitchen and a private drying line out on the terrace. The upstairs bedroom is truly a large loft and it can be difficult to stand up but it was gorgeous and had plenty of storage. The bathroom is also upstairs off the bedroom and is large with a long counter space. I appreciated the European hairdryer and other small but necessary details... extra travel sized soaps and shampoos, full length mirrors, empty closets full of hangers, spare umbrellas...
We walked 5 to 10 miles easily everyday and explored as much as possible in Rome. It is WORTH getting a tour of the Vatican and Sistine chapel to learn the many, many details and also because the lines are ridiculously long otherwise. The same is true for the Colosseum and Forum. It was money well spent. On the other hand, it isn't necessary to get tours at the many museums and churches and famous sites throughout Rome. Buy the Roma Pass for the museums and discounts. We paid 8 Euros for the bus/tram/subway daily passes that allow a person to ride anywhere in the city as much as needed until midnight that night on the day we headed far North to the Borghese Museum and Modern Art Museum. There is also a taxi stand one block south along the river if needed.
Great apartment! Exactly what we needed! Thank you!
pros- the apartment is beautiful and just as pictured. great location next to piazza del popolo and borghese gardens. cons- noisy street, we would hear the restaurant packing up every night (moving the chairs and tables from their small terrace) and the occasional noise from top floor. the bed is large but has two different twin beds pushed together, one side is soft and the other is hard as a rock.
Location, location, location! Rooftop private patio is huge, Valentina had great local recommendations and was right on time. Just book it.
This is a really lovely apartment in a great part of town. The roof terrace is amazing - complete with outside speakers! Valentina was very responsive before our arrival, and her friend Anna gave us a great introduction to the apartment and the area. Would love to stay here again.
This place is perfectly located for enjoying the beauty of Trastevere. It is very comfortable for two people. The roof terrace was great for enjoying the Roman sunshine. Valentina was a lovely host and provided us with lots of helpful advice.
Seriously the best place to stay in Rome. If the room is open and you have the chance to stay -- just do it and book. I couldn't believe how great the room and balcony actually were -- the pictures are great but don't even do it justice. You will not regret this amazing room to compliment your stay in Rome. Tremendous location and luxury living.
Additionally Valentina is super sweet. She showed me lots of great restaurant recommendations, gave me directions to some tours I was on and general good information from a local.
The reservation was canceled 27 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
It was the perfect location for our first trip to Rome. The roof top terrace is fantastic and very private. Most tourist things are within walking distance and the area of Trastevere is amazing. There is a lot of night life but you can't hear the noise from this flat. It is on a very quiet street. There is a lovely square just around the corner with great places to eat and drink. I would highly recommend this flat.
Beautiful apartment, in a wonderful location. My sister lives in Rome and was very jealous of our holiday pad! The terrace is great for some al fresco dining and sunbathing. There is wifi throughout the apartment, and a dock for your ipod which has speakers throughout the apartment & terrace. It is a steep & lengthy staircase but it is a penthouse apartment and it is sufficiently high enough up for your terrace not to be overlooked. I was also amazed at how quiet it is on the terrace and in the apartment. Trastevere is a buzzing area with lots of great bars and restaurants but away from the main drag of tourists. The prices are reasonable and although Vicolo del Bologna is a quiet street, it is in the heart of the area.
