I have been living in San Luis Obispo for 30 years. Originally from the Washington DC area. Graduated from Cal Poly. Enjoy healthy food, hiking, yoga and travel.
Great place, just as described/pictured. Marjorie was very flexible and went the extra mile to make sure we had a great stay. Nice place to get away and recharge.
I wish I could give more than 5 stars -- Marjorie's home is just beautiful. The pictures on this site don't even do it justice. It's off the beaten path but my husband and I were easily able to walk 3 miles downtown to SLO for dinner, and took a cab on the way back. Marjorie herself was such a gracious host -- she left beverages, granola, wine, and delicious homemade apple bread for us during our stay. No TV and no Internet, but plenty of space and sunlight. We'd be thrilled to come back.
My wife and I stayed at Marjorie's house in San Luis Obispo and we could not have asked for a better experience. She was a fantastic hostess and gave us a tour of the place when we arrived, and even left a bottle of wine for our visit! Planning and coordinating check in/out was easy and the cottage was more spacious than the posting lets on. We felt like we were in the countryside but were only minutes to downtown in one direction and to wineries in the other. We highly recommend Marjorie and her place and cannot wait to return to SLO! Thanks, Marjorie!
Response from Marjorie:
Thanks so much for the review. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay. You are welcome back anytime you want to come to the area. I am happy to make you a special offer for your return visit. Best wishes to both of you!
Marjorie's home is very clean, peaceful and in a very nice setting. The location is easy and short driving access to any part of SLO. I would characterize this experience as a "retreat" setting where you can relax. Marjorie was easy to communicate with and accommodating as well. I would heartily recommend Marjorie as a host and plan to request her home again when visiting SLO!
This is truly a quiet and charming place to visit. It will literally detach you from all of your busy days in the city with TVs and Internet because there are no such things here. It is a cottage so you'll have a chance to use the wood-fired stove for the living room heating. Marjorie made sure that our stay was comfortable and stopped by briefly to make sure we were having a good time.
Very cute house, with lots of lovely antique furniture, a cozy bed with lots of pillows, and plenty of warm water. Host graciously provided a bathrobe and slippers, as well as bottled water. I didn't get a chance to meet her on my relatively short stay, but we talked on the phone and she seemed very nice. Would definitely go back.
Really enjoyed my stay! Lovely home in a quiet country setting, just what I needed. Very clean too. Will definitely stay again when I am back in the area.
The pictures don't do credit to Marjorie's charming place. It's sunny, beautifully decorated and has lots of character. The house that is 3 miles from the center of town is close to everything and yet far away from everything to enjoy a quiet, country setting. The front yard has a set of four wooden chairs around a fire pit, and I got to enjoy a starry sky with no bright lights around. Marjorie was very nice and welcoming. I would certainly stay here again.
Nice folks welcome back anytime.
Marjorie and her boyfriend, Don, were great company to have for a night. I wish it could have been much longer. After just a few minutes it feels as if you are exchanging stories and jokes with old time friends. They were also very kind and flexible in helping me resolve a crisis, when another couple unexpectedly arrived for the same room and they said sharing the bathroom would be no problem! Everybody was happy.
Marjorie and her boyfriend were fabulous guests to have stay at my home, if only for a night. Unfortunately this was a last minute confirmation and I blew it and didn't check my email. They were wandering around town trying to find me and were successful thank goodness. I enjoyed their company-they are each interesting, intelligent, and fun to be around. They were also appreciative of my hosting and I received some free woodworking advice from Don and a brief neck massage from Marjorie who is very talented in that area. In short, it was a delightful experience.
As is often the case with our bungalow, I never met Marjorie, just communicated via phone and email. But she was a great guest that was quiet and considerate the whole time she was here. I would recommend her.
Although Marjorie only stayed a short time at my place, she was very clean and flexible. She was so kind to the cats, which they really loved! I enjoyed speaking with her after her stay. She was a very concientious guest and a good communicator.
