La casa è stupenda, dotata di tutti i comfort, leggermente fuori dalle vie più centrali ma questo è un bene perchè si dormiva molto bene e con le bici in dotazione in 5 minuti si arriva ovunque. La consiglio assolutamente!!!
Our host Brenda was wonderful and very responsive...in fact, she anticipated our every need. We had the purple Hummingbird house right by the pool and both were very clean. The beds were comfortable, a/c wonderful, plenty of water and in a secluded area so very quiet with a beautiful island feel. I loved the bikes which is all you need to get around on this perfect island paradise. This was my first AirBNB and what a glorious experience! Thank you Brenda, Heidi, Peter and Jason for everything! We will be back!
Brenda's house was gorgeous in person! It didn't look bad in the pictures but our group of 5 was delightfully surprised at its interior upon arrival. After a couple days out west on the mainland, it was nice to have a modern bathroom with great water pressure in the shower! The AC units in the rooms worked really well, so much so that we often got cold at night. In those instances we turned it off and just relied on the ceiling fans. The AC unit in the kitchen/living room area, however, did not appear to be functional. So it got pretty warm in there, but that encouraged us to get out and enjoy all the Caye (it's pronounced "key", by the way). I do have a few complaints regarding my experience though: 1) Upon arrival, we were greeted by a nice taxi man, who took us to the house. I knew this would be the procedure, as Brenda had told me that she had arranged it. What Brenda did not share was that the ride would be $2.50USD/person. It wasn't a lot of money, but it was an unexpected expense incurred by our group. I also thought it was unnecessary since the house is an easy 5 min walk from the ferry dock. 2) Upon departure, Brenda agreed to arrange a taxi van for our party of five from the Belize City ferry dock to the BZE airport for $10USD/person. Upon arrival to Belize City we were disappointed that it was just a taxi car. It was a VERY tight ride without AC, but we made it work. Other than those transportation mishaps, we enjoyed our stay very much! Tips for future guests: 1) Caye Caulker is, as the name suggests, a caye and not an island. You can look up the difference yourself, but the point I'd like to make is that you shouldn't come expecting a traditional beach, as you will find that the trees go right up to the shoreline. However, it's still very nice. The Split (the famous bar which is a 15-20 min walk from Villa Hermosa) offers a picture-esque swimming spot in the ocean. We spent a whole afternoon there since we loved it so much. Gotta see it to believe it! 2) Go to the restaurant Habaneros. It is conveniently situated on Front Street, about a 1-2 minute walk away from Villa Hermosa. It's kind of on the pricey side, but you truly get what you pay for!! It was hands-down the best food we tasted during our stay! My group of 5 all ordered different dishes and we all thoroughly enjoyed them. It was a perfect way to end our trip. NOTE: it is only open during peak season (it opens on Oct 31 each year). 3) Be sure to enjoy a cinnamon bun from the bakery near the bank. Also fry jacks at the fry jack restaurant on the corner across the street from the bank are cheap and...
Didn't get a chance to meet Brenda. Her condos were amazing and just as described. Walk out and the beach is right there. Also look down the other street and you see the ocean. This island is small and beautiful. Would recommend this place to others.
The host canceled this reservation 126 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
One of the cool things about this stay is that you are to your own devices. Brenda was in Panama during my stay, but very accessible via Whats App for any needs.
The driver, Peter is freaking amazing! I have an extended family when I go back to Caye Caulker. Pool was amazing. Having bikes was essential as the property is a good 5 or so minute ride from the main front street.
Let the hot water run a little bit before use in the shower.
Phone is supplied. Trick to charging it, if you need to, is to take the back cover of the phone off, then plug in. If not, it looks like a plug that doesn't fit it, should.
Wifi was steady and great. Keep DEET mosquito spray with you and spray a few times a day. Enjoy the most amazing seafood ever!
We loved the location, an easy walk to everything while staying in a quiet residential part of the island. We also really enjoyed the pool and hammock. The two separate bedrooms and baths worked well for this girls trip, and the A/C was a must (and worked well)! The kitchen was well equipped and the beds comfortable. It would have been nice to have an air conditioned common area (living room), but we would stay here again. The golf cart taxi pickup at the dock was also nice, and the hosts were responsive and helpful.
Brenda was super fast and responsive via online messaging. It was great! She arranged for someone to pick us up from the water taxi dock for $5 US. It was very convenient. Once at the house, there was a phone to call local numbers from, this was also convenient and easy.
The AC, Tv, Pool, and Wifi were all awesome bonuses and all worked well. We were there late August and it was HOT, but the AC was able to cool down the bedroom very well and the rest of the house decently well. Pool was cleaned every (website hidden) channels were in english.
5min bike ride into town on provided bikes. It would be hard to get lost and she provides a map.
Only reason I would give it 4/5 is that the experience can depend on your neighbors bc you have about 4 other units next to you. The first two nights neighbors were quiet and respectful :). The third night it was a pretty loud group.
This is a beautiful place in a lush, little side-street that's a flat, easy bike ride to the louder and "busier" parts of Caye Caulker. The folks working at and with the Hummingbird were really nice and clever, Brenda was incredibly helpful and kind with getting us set up, and you'll have plenty of interesting, colorful birds visiting your window throughout the day!
Also worth mentioning, since I wasn't totally sure: the kitchen is completely stocked wrt pots/pans/cooking/serving, so if you're planning to eat in, all you'll need is food from the nearby vendors (but there are also great places to eat out just a block away.)
We absolutely loved staying here and have told basically everyone else we met to come here. It's actually cuter than it looks in the pictures. We loved having a separate little guest house for one of the bedrooms. I came here with my mom so it was nice to each have our own space. We would wake up super early each morning to swim in the pool and swim again each night before bed. The man who lives behind the property plays really awesome reggae and jazz music that we loved hearing as we floated in the pool. There are bikes that you will definitely use to ride down to the split and swim as well as to go get watermelon juices and go out to eat. Max was our taxi driver to come out here and he gave us great recommendations. We loved him too so ask for his number as you will need a golf cart can to get your stuff here and back to the water taxi or plane. Honestly if we had known how much we would love it we would have stayed here our entire trip! We dream of coming back with friends and family and renting all three of the houses!
Many thanks for your review.
We are happy that you enjoyed our accommodation for your time on the island.
Brenda is a very respectful and polite guest. She's always wellcome to return to my studio. I totally recommend her as a good guest.
