A lovely apartment located in a very central location. The beds were comfortable and the views of Florence - including the Duomo - were fantastic! The three balconies were terrific. The stairs to the apartment added to its charm. Our time in Florence was memorable because of our stay in the apartment.
Apartment is fine... located on the ground floor of the apartment block off Via Guelfa, about 5mins walk from the Castle/Convention Centre where my conference was on. Colour scheme has changed since the photos were taken, otherwise they are pretty accurate. Nice apartment, 1 double bed and (I assume) another pull-out bed in the sofa.
Location is very close to the train station, approximately 10 minutes slow walk with bags... apartment is on the ground floor, which means no carrying heavy bags up stairs, etc. which is always a risk in Florence, seemingly :)
Anna was the contact/person I dealt with in Florence... she was professional, helpful and always busy :) If you think of it, bring along a photocopy of your passport picture for check-in/registration... otherwise you may need to find a photocopy shop to do same. I got charged an extra EUR30 on arrival as my flight(s) were delayed and it was a late check-in (past midnight/12am), which was something I had not counted on...
I stayed an extra night in one of Massimo/Anna's other apartments and that too was quite nice... I would recommend the apartments to anybody thinking of going, and would stay here again myself.
The appartment is very nice, close to Duomo and Santa Maria Novella. The owner is very kind and make us feel home. Thanks,
My daughter and I stayed in one of the Via San Zanabi apartments and found the space just enough for the 2 of us. It has a spacious bedroom up in the mezzanine floor with a double and single bed. The kitchen cum dining is a tad small but enough. The location is perfect as the central market is just a block away and everything else including the Duomo, train station etc. are all easy walking distance. Restaurants and cafés are 50 yards from the main doorstep and various supermarkets and bakeries located on neighbouring side streets. The hostess (Maristella you are wonderful!) is multi lingual, very helpful and friendly and we used her often for assistance on how to get around Tuscany. We were on the 4th Floor and our wifi connection worked well. A very quite apartment with only the birds waking us up in the mornings.
Will definitely stay here again.
Good place but bad communication and really slow Wi-Fi.
First, potential travelers should be very aware that room requests - as opposed to the description of the property - are not honored. There are two apartments listed here in this listing - one has a large bed - shown with a black frame and orange/red coverlet. This one has the green kitchen. The other apartment has a futon which can open to a (queen?) bed; and two single real beds in separate rooms. Before booking; we specifically asked for the one with the large real bed and were assured it would be provided.
Second - communication was VERY difficult with this host. We were told to communicate with an apartment manager, w/ a telephone number. We tried several times; but could not hear one another. I emailed several times, requesting mgr's email address. No response. I also emailed to confirm our reservations, no response.
When we arrived, (at 5:25 pm - after emailing through Airbnb since we didn't have the managers info, that we would be there near 5 pm) we had to call, because no directions were given to the apt or what bell to push. We were given the room pictured with the futon. We informed the manager there must be some mistake in the room, She said she would see about moving our bags to the other room after theguests checked out the next day. We out all day - and when we returned - our bags were right where we left them. That's when we contacted Airbnb; who reviewed our situation, understood we had been promised a real 'large bed' - not a futon, and gave us permission to cancel our reservation and find new accommodations.
I would not have even brought all the other issues up - but anyone looking to book should also know that there are thin walls; it sounds as if water is pouring into the room when others in the apartments above flush toilets, and there is a tiny baby next door with big lungs who you can hear all through the evening and night crying - and the couple (parents?) screaming at each other.
In addition, there was so much scum in the teapot, we could not use it; there was so much oil and grease on the pots/pans we had to wash them before using; and the bathroom toilet lid will not stay up on it's own (minor irritation; but that dratted thing is cold when you don't have a shirt on!) and there was mildew in the shower (quite a lot) and the floors were so dirty that my feet were black after taking a shower, then making dinner (20 minutes!).
One corner of the futon did not lay flat and was horribly hard and uncomfortable; the towels smelled musty too.
Thankfully, Airbnb has fabulous customer service and took care of us. The best thing about this apartment was it was a 5 minute walk from the train station; and the Trattoria Guelfa down the street rocked.
Bien situé et suffisamment grand. L'ai conditionnée était d'une aide très précieuse. Seule la douche était un peu étroite.
