My family and I stayed at Mat's place for Mardi Gras. Our experience was absolutely wonderful! The photos don't really do the place justice. It's much larger than I had imagined it would be and was perfect for our group of 8. The location is perfect for exploring Uptown as well as for the going to the Mardi Gras parades. Mat was very welcoming and made everything for our trip run smoothly. I would definitely stay here again!
Mat was such a wonderful host from start to finish. He left a list of places to check out in Nola, as well as snacks and drinks for us. The location was wonderful as well; magazine street and all of its restaurants/shops was just a quick walk away, as was the St. Charles streetcar. While most of our time was spent exploring the city during Mardi Gras, we were always so happy to come back to this beautiful house. As others have said, the photos do not do it justice. The rooms are big and beautiful, and the kitchen/living room is the best space for hanging out. I would highly recommend Mat's house, and I would stay again here in the future.
The house was amazing!! Mat was a wonderful host throughout the entire process. He was easy to get in contact with from the time when we requested to book, all the way until we were checking out on Sunday.
There were towels for everyone, some snacks for us when we arrived off a late flight, and a great space for big groups to hang out in. A full laundry room, 2 bathrooms, an extra mattress and three bedrooms made sleeping 9 of us completely doable.
We got lucky with the weather and walked nearly 20 miles in 2.5 days. It was a great spot to access the Uptown parades on St. Charles, but also explore Magazine street. Ubers were able to access the house the whole weekend even though we were inside "the box."
The area seemed to be developing and had a mix of redone southern style homes, and some beautiful overgrown forgotten charmers.
We're already talking about our next trip!!
Mat's house was perfect! He was really responsive with any questions that we had. Great recommendations on his favorite places in New Orleans. We were able to walk to a lot of places and it was easy to get to the street car (maybe a 15 minute walk.)
The house was impeccably clean when we arrived. The pictures don't do this place justice! Mat provided some drinks and snacks and there was a bar in the house with reasonably priced items.
We fit 8 people in the house comfortably. I will definitely stay here again if it is available on my next trip. Thanks for everything, Mat!
Staying at Mat's place was perfect! His place is true to the pictures posted. He made the place really feel like a home-away-from-home. The place was clean, welcoming and in a great part of town. I will definitely reach out to Mat if I'm ever in NOLA again!
I can't say enough positive things about Mat's home. Not only was the entire house impeccably clean, but the pictures do not accurately show how enormously spacious it is. Everything from the super comfortable beds to the extra blankets & towels, from the complimentary coffee, cereal, and beer, to the cable tv and record collection stocked with classic jazz for the vintage record player. The hardest part was leaving the house to go explore New Orleans. The house's alarm system was especially reassuring knowing we left computers and valuables there, but the Garden District neighborhood always felt incredibly safe even late at night coming home from the bars. Mat was quick to respond to any questions I had and he gave us total autonomy. Can't recommend this host and home highly enough. Thank you, Mat! I'll definitely be back :)
The inside of the house was beautiful. Really comfortable and roomy for a large group. A couple times we opted to "stay in" to talk and socialize right in the living room rather than going out. We enjoyed the backyard for an outside meal. During our stay we had a few questions and Mat was prompt and helpful getting back to us. Only negative was the neighborhood. The house was right on the edge of marginal areas and we were told it wasn't safe to walk at night. We had no problems though.
We definitely hope this place is available on our next visit to New Orleams! Great location for the variety of activities we planned- golfing, eating, shopping, music, dancing. Mat was a great host, providing plenty of towels, great selection of basics like coffee milk and OJ. Lots of transportation options including car, streetcar and uber. Mat also provided all necessary soaps etc in the kitchen, bathrooms and laundry room
Mat's house was absolutely perfect! Around 8 of my friends met for halloween weekend and we really had a blast! We were all super comfortable and everyone had a place to sleep. The house was gorgeous (pictures don't do it enough justice)! It's super spacious and had everything we needed. It felt like Mat was one step ahead of us the entire trip!
The neighborhood was great! We originally wanted to stay in the French quarter, but were completely content staying in the lower garden district/Irish channel. Magazine street was full of wonderful restaurants and cafes! The house is a short (10 min or so) walk to the street car allowing for easy transportation! It costs $1.25 per ride.
Would definitely stay here again!
Upon arrival, Mat had a fridge ready to go with the basics (beer, milk, OJ, etc). Everything that we would need in a house, was provided. It was like being at home. The pictures show how beautiful the house is, but when you get there, it's even more stunning to see in person. Everything ran so smoothly for us, we didn't need Mat once, but he was there on standby incase we did.
The location of the house is outstanding, located right near Stein's Deli and District Donuts Sliders Brew. Having been to New Orleans, I knew I didn't want to stay in the quarter and this house located in Garden District is, IMO, one of the best locations to stay in.
If you're looking to visit, make Mat's place your choice. It doesn't lack in size or accommodations.
