What can I say? WHAT YOU SEE IS NOT WHAT YOU GET. The place provided by Bruce is SOOO BEAUTIFUL, he should consider changing the photos cos it does NO JUSTICE AT ALL! I was worried at first about the location since it was so quiet and Bruce gave such a long and detailed description of getting to his place. Turns out it was easy to find and the location was walking distance to many attractions! Safe, quiet but convenient is what you'll get. Bruce is a very warm, sincere and thoughtful host. He provided everything we needed and more. If a chatty host is what you want, you have it. If absolute privacy is what you need, you get it too! My partner and I were reluctant to leave the amazing apartment every single day and we can't wait for our next Hobart trip where we'll definitely choose to stay there again! 4 thumbs up!
Bruce was a very welcoming and lovely host. He gave us very specific and correct instructions of how to find the house and the area in which his house was located was beautiful. As the previous accommodation we had booked fell through, our booking was last minute and within 15 minutes Bruce had put our worries at ease by accommodating us so quickly and well. The studio was spacious and surrounded by a beautiful garden which shon through the big windows after sun rise. Bruce has such a friendly nature and guided us on all of the in's and out's of his city over a lovely breakfast and coffee together. After leaving Bruce, we couldn't help but wish we could stay a couple of nights longer. Thank you Bruce!!!
Our first time to Hobart and what lovely accommodation! Bruce has such a wonderfully decorated place, the pictures here don't do it justice. We were very comfortable in a separate area of the home with everything we could need. Bruce has a great knowledge of the local area and was able to help us with travel suggestions, including a great local Vietnamese for dinner! Bruce was up early on Sunday morning to collect lovely fresh pastries from a favourite place in town, and even ground coffee beans to go with our breakfast! Wish we could have stayed longer and definitely hope to return soon. Thanks Bruce!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bruce's exquisite home in West Hobart. It was our first time visiting Hobart and we couldn't think of a better base to explore this delightful city. It is about a 5 minute walk to Hobart cbd and about 10 - 15 minute walk to Salamanca Square. The garden studio itself was very comfortable and, in keeping with the rest of the house, very tastefully decorated and full of charm. Both James and I couldn't think of a better host than Bruce! He was very welcoming and we instantly felt at home. Each morning we were treated to pastries and bread from the local bakery. Breakfast was served in Bruce's beautiful light filled kitchen and was accompanied by some of the best coffee I have had the pleasure of drinking. I recommend setting aside at least 45 minutes for breakfast as chatting to Bruce is an experience in itself. On our final day in Hobart we had planned on visiting MONA and, knowing this, Bruce gave us a wonderful history on MONA, David Walsh and Claudio Alcorso. We highly recommend staying with Bruce on your trip to Hobart and will be suggesting this to all our friends and family. I'm sure we will be visiting Hobart again and when we do we will definitely be staying with Bruce, provided he isn't booked already ;)
Our stay at Bruce's house was so fantastic. His communication was helpful from when i first contacted him. With prior approval, Bruce let my partner and I drop our bags at the place before check in time due to our early flight into Hobart.
He was very accommodating on our check out also, letting us leave our bags so as we did not have to carry these around all day after checking out.
Bruce's house was so beautiful - in a brilliant location close to the city, it was well lit, warm, had everything we needed, with the added luxuries of coffee and fresh pastries in the mornings. Bruce was very helpful also - we shared a love of food - as so was able to provide lots of recommendations about places to eat in Hobart.
It was such a fantastic place to stay. Thank you very much Bruce!
Bruce is a very welcoming and knowledgeable host and I would recommend him and the garden studio to visitors to Hobart.
The room is comfortable, with a good bed and privacy, and the ability to make tea and coffee.
The location was lovely- quiet and relaxing, and a short walk to everywhere you would want to go.
Bruce arranged to be at home when we arrived. The door was open and welcoming. He gave clear instructions how to find his house. The house is well located, being easy walking distance to the centre of Hobart. The visitor accommodation was lovely with private access. The house is a very aesthetically appealing, restored C19 home. Bruce accommodated all our needs. We were sorry our stay was so short, as we would have enjoyed the time to have a leisurely chat over breakfast. We would definitely like to stay there again when we return to Hobart.
This was my second time staying at Bruce's Hobart Garden Studio - I loved it so much the first time that I had to return! As soon as my boyfriend and I planned to come to Hobart, I knew exactly where we should stay. My boyfriend loved the Studio as much as I did and we both felt very welcome and comfortable; chatting to Bruce over breakfast in the beautiful kitchen, complete with warm dappled winter sunlight streaming through the north facing window, was undoubtedly a highlight. Thank you again Bruce, we plan to return!
Bruce was the perfect host - very friendly and welcoming. We were pleasantly surprised by the standard of the accommodation - it was better than we were expecting. It was spacious and we had no trouble heating our main living area with the portable heater that was supplied. Separate toilet and there were facilities for making tea and coffee - with everything supplied.
We had a really lovely experience staying with Bruce – we were in a private area of a beautiful large house, situated an easy walk from Salamanca. It felt like we had the place to ourselves. In the mornings, Bruce brought pastries for us for breakfast – he is such a welcoming host and we enjoyed getting to know him. We could not recommend staying with him any more highly!
