We had a wonderful time visiting Iceland and thanks to the help of Ivar. Iva'rs apartment is very clean, simple, yet we felt at home. He had everything needed in case you want to stay-in for the evening or make a simple breakfast before you head out on your day. He was kind enough to buy us some cheese, milk, juice, and some flat bread so we had something to eat the next morning. Our flight from NYC arrived late and we're grateful Ivar meet us at the bus station then drove us to the apartment. After a long day of traveling, I think we would of been lost. The location of the apartment was perfect as we like to walk. Reykjavik is a very walkable town so it was nice to be away from the main strip and have restful sleep. I slept so hard one night that when I woke up I had no idea where I was.
Ivar is wonderful. He provided recommendations for an impromtu road trip. We saw some amazing waterfalls along the way and grateful for his help from our Airbnb reservation to our actual visit. Ivar is very responsive - we appreciate that! :)
- Walkable to food/groceries/ATM and main street of Reykjavik & other attractions
- Bed was roomy and comfortable; you may want to bring a sleeping mask if you are sensitive to light as sunlight does hit the room in the am
- Plenty of parking; we did rent a car so parking was easy
- Wifi - YES, helped us confirm our plans as we ended up doing an impromtu road trip to the glacier lagoon
- All the basics to make a cup of tea to light meals
- Ivar is a kind and thoughtful host
Suggestions for travelers:
- If you arrive late, there is a pizza place down the street for a quick/uneventful snack (ha!) I think we walked there at 2:00 am
- Hotel Bjork is just 2 blocks and was a great place to be picked up by the charter buses for our day trips/back to the airport
Thank you Ivar for your kind hospitality.
We had a great stay at Ívar's apartment. Ívar is an excellent host. He was very kind in picking us up from the bus station with his car at 2:30 a.m. We very much appreciated as well the nice breakfast goodies he left for us in the fridge. The apartment is very spacious, bright and clean. It is located in a quiet area close to the main shopping street.
We really enjoyed this apartment in a quiet part of town. The supermarket was only a two block walk away, and a nice coffee/sandwich/bakery called Cafe Roma was two blocks in the other direction.
Very easy to walk to the city center from this location! Also super strong wifi.
The apartment is big, and has the basics you need: bedroom, linens and towels, bathroom, kitchen with pots and pans.Wi-fi worked great. Ivar left a some breakfast items, thank you. He also advised about the supermarket nearby, which was very handy, because I stayed for 5 days and was preparing my own vegan meals for my day trips. Make sure you look around in the kitchen and bathroom, as there may already some basic supplies there. He also pointed out that there is a nearby hotel (Hotel Bjork), where tour busses can pick up and drop off.
He wasn't around when I arrived, but his sister was kind enough to pick me up at that drop off point, showed me around in the apartment and took me to the supermarket too. She also drove me to a nice restaurant when I got lost, super nice!
There was one 'hiccup' that we discussed later, and Ivar is addressing it, so I'm confidently recommending this place to anyone who would like a quiet but relatively near (15 mins walk) to the city center apartment.
Mooi appartement nabij het centrum van Reykjavik. Vriendelijke ontvangst en zeer bereidwillige eigenaar om informatie te verstrekken over stad en land.
My husband and I just returned from our trip to Iceland and we really appreciated Ivar's appartment. It was clean and comfortable and in a good location near the main tourist area, but far enough to be very peaceful and quiet. The bed is very comfortable and the wifi worked well. We did a lot of our own cooking and Ivar's kitchen was just what we needed. It is also a very short walk to the indoor swimming pool and the main bus station. Ivar is kind and very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed.
Wonderful stay at Ívar's apartment. Good central location in Reykjavik. Apt was exactly as advertised, Quiet, spacious and clean. Basic provisions to get started were very much appreciated. On site parking was a nice bonus.
Ivar's apartment was great. It was very quiet. We had about a 15 minute walk to the main shopping street in Reykjavik. He had maps and other materials ready for us. He was waiting with keys and simple instructions. Wi-fi was great and the apartment was very clean and comfortable!
We can highly recommend to stay in Ivars appartment. He is a wonderful host, picking us up at the busstation, giving us a first introduction of an unknown city. Following his advice, visiting a concert of the most famous choir of Island in Hallgrimskirkja, which is close to the appartment, we could enjoy a great, unforgetable event. During our stay we felt like being home, well fed with informations we needed. Ivars Appartment is close to the center and to the Busterminal, and as we found out( almost too late) close to a nice coffe-shop ( Cafe Roma) and to a great record-store ( lucky records). If we come back to Reykjavik we would again choose to stay at Ivars place. Definitely.
Ívar was a great host. His apartment was big and spacious. It was only a 10-minute walk to the main street in the center of town. He graciously picked us up from the bus station and put a few starter items in the fridge. The wi-fi was fast and problem-free. I would definitely recommend this apartment to future visitors.
