Gaetano's delightful lake house really was the perfect Catskills getaway. Cosy yet warren-like, with lots of corners to explore, a fireplace to gather around and a beautiful lake to gaze out at. The snowy weather made the setting even more picturesque. I dare say we'll be back one day.
Many thanks again, Harry! Safe travels home and we very much look forward to hosting you again in the future.
All the best to you and yours,
Gaetano is extremely responsive and helpful and was a good host. I am especially grateful to Airbnb owners like him who allow well-behaved dogs. My German Shepherd Elsa was in heaven given the paths and our regular walks through the woods and the water access. The house, which is really more like a cabin, is off a long dirt road and very secluded. This is a place for repose and quiet, and the rooms are cozy, colorful, and with lots of nooks and comfy chairs for reading. As another guest commented, the kitchen is a bit awkward. And the WiFi is spotty. It was chilly out as we were there the last weekend in October --and so I do think it is a place better enjoyed if you dine and hang out on the great outdoor patio. But the floor to ceiling windows helped to bring the outside in when we needed to warm up!
It is a very lovely cabin with a beautiful lake. The cabin was really cosy and nice. We enjoyed our time there and the area is quite beautiful.
We we three couples.
Very nice and interesting house. A bit difficult to find at night.
We had a lovely weekend at Gaetano's home! He is a great host - set expectations appropriately, provided directions and details regarding the house. Made us feel very welcome and responded to inquiries within minutes. We got in very late and he left the porch light on for us as well as offered us late check-out because we were arriving so late. The house is beautiful, tastefully furnished and the lake is lovely (though very shallow this time of the year). The area makes you feel like you are far away from civilization - just what we were looking for. The only regret we have is that we packed our weekend with activities so much we didn't get to spend more time in this lovely house, just to relax. Perhaps next time! Thank you, Gaetano!
Had a great time with family and friends at Gaetano's house. Communication was a breeze and the house itself is gorgeous - tastefully furnished and spacious but cozy at the same time. Loved the outdoor deck although it was cold and rainy for a good part of our stay so we couldn't use the grill. The deck is covered so rain wasn't an issue. The pond was relaxing and the small pier is nice. We didn't get to use the boats (rainy) but they seemed to be in good condition. We had a minor creepy moment when a neighbor pulled into the driveway behind us and started asking us questions. He seemed like a nice guy but taking to strangers in secluded wooded areas will always feel a little strange. I texted Gaetano once the guy left and he reassured us it was just his neighbor who is the de facto neighborhood watch up there. I appreciated the owner's concern and prompt reply to my texts regarding this. All in all, had a great stay and we hope to be back. Monticello is the nearest town and it's quite run down. Better to head to Milford, PA for some small town experiences.
Beautiful place. Gaetano was both very accommodating and responsive
This house is an real escape. My husband and I went for a week with our dog and invited some family and friends to join us. It was an amazing low-key vacation. When we arrived it was late but someone had thoughtfully left the outdoor light on for us and welcomed us with flowers on the table. The info booklet was right there with wi-fi info and other instructions for the house.
Gaetano was very communicative about what to expect and what was expected. We didn't encounter any problems with the rental but I would have been completely comfortable contacting him with questions, etc. I didn't get Verizon service on my phone, but Sprint and AT&T seemed to work fine. The wi-fi worked fine, too.
If you're the kind of person who loves a place that feels homey, you will not be disappointed. There are lots of great, cozy nooks for reading or hanging out- both inside the house and out. The house has a few quirks - the light switches can be hard to find and kitchen is a little haphazardly laid out, but we found any inconvenience to be minor when compared with its charms - rooms with interesting angles, incredibly comfy furniture, skylights in great places, a loft bed with an upper view of the forest, a deck perched up on a hill among the trees, overlooking the lake. The photos are accurate but don't completely capture the feeling. The lake is swimmable, but you might want lake shoes - there is algae that sits on the bottom and you will have to walk through. It's pretty shallow, but if it had been warmer during our stay, I'm sure we would have spent a lot of time floating in it.
Monticello is close by if you have any immediate needs (and things seem to stay open surprisingly late - the ShopRite is 24 hours) and there is lots of great hiking within an hour away - the Delaware Water Gap and New Paltz offer many options. We also drove down to Milford, which is fun to visit and has some good restaurants and hiking.
But it can be difficult to tear yourself away from this sweet house and its pretty surroundings. We spent a few mornings just sitting on the dock trying to make a plan and deciding just to relax and watch the dog try to catch a fish until lunch!
I usually don't leave reviews but this time I thought i should since we had such a great time at Gaetano's house. It was a perfect getaway weekend, quiet and relaxing. What I liked the most was the house, very cozy and most importantly very comfortable for me and my family.
House is so much prettier then the pictures and is well maintained, each room is very comfortable and the view of the pond is just amazing. It has everything that you need. We go away a lot and this time decided to bring our own pots because usually the houses don't have good cookware, this time we were surprised by the quality that the kitchen was stocked.
I also loved the rustic theme of the place, we will definitely be back.
Many thanks again, Gosia. We really enjoyed hosting you and your family. We look forward to having you all back in the future! Stay well...
It is one of the quietest places I have ever been. We loved it, the setting was very beautiful and we hardly left the house and garden. It was so restful and we had a wonderful relaxing time.
