I absolutely loved this apartment, but would describe it as bohemian shabby-chic rather than luxury. This was not a problem for us as it's our preferred style - but unfortunately the apartment wasn't very clean either. We're not exactly clean freaks - but we spent the first couple of hours at this apartment cleaning!! I advised Debora she might need to talk to her cleaner and she did offer to send someone, but we'd already done it by then. Also, as others have mentioned, the apartment is a bit let down by all the little jobs that need doing, window hinges that need fixing, light bulbs that need changing - it would only take a day, a good set of tools and a hundred euro to sort everything out. The main problem for us was that the knob for the oven was broken, meaning we couldn't turn the oven on- we told Debora on Thursday and she said they could look at it on Monday evening or Tuesday (a wait of 4 or 5 days, taking it to 2 days before Christmas) which we thought was unacceptable. The lovely guy in the electrical shop over the road superglued and taped the knob for us so that it worked. Also - don't get excited about the spa bath as we couldn't get it to work (after scrubbing it) despite following Debora's instructions. But even with all this, the apartment is warm and cosy, with high ceilings, polished floors, tiled bathrooms and plenty of hot water - and Rione Monti is a fantastic area, so close to all the tourist attractions, but with a local feel and great shops. The metro stop is at the end of the street and the metro runs under the apartment building and can be felt in the lounge - it's not a big deal, but if you don't know about it and you're from an earthquake prone country (as we are) it can give you a bit of a fright!
Debora´s appartment in Monti is just the perfect place to explore Rome. Close to everything and a very nice neighborhood.
Debora was very helpful. Communication was easy and reliable. Thanks a lot and all the best,
The apartment couldn't be in a better location. Lots of nice restaurants nearby and markets also. Thanks Deborah and Ciro for the flexible check out.
We were received by Deboras friend who was friendly and helpful all the way. The location is hard to beat, its very easy to find less touristy restaurant for such a central part of Rome but at the same time everything is on strolling distance. The apartments old features are vey pretty and the more modern refurbishments are pretty nicely done. The second couch is not ideal for sleeping (if more than 4 people) and some kitchen features could need replacements but I can see any real issues that couldnt be fixed in an afternoon.
The location is great for walking to major sites and has easy access to transport when needed. The apartment is a good size and has some lovely features. The kitchen is has minimal cooking equipment making it difficult to cook meals in the apartment but this is fine if you intend to eat out as we did and there are plenty of great spots near by. The apartment could use maintenance with items such as the en suite toilet, iron, one hot plate burner and bracket to hold the en suite shower head broken- also many light bulbs were in need of replacing and there is no dishwasher however this was all manageable for a short stay. Unfortunately we found the smell from the main bathroom plumbing overwhelming and this did make the stay less pleasant. The owners have worked hard to improve this and placed air freshening devices in all rooms. It's a shame as the owners are lovely and very responsive and this is a big apartment with some and the location is great.
Great location. Fantastic hosts and restaurants in lovely 'Modica'. Grazie!
Deborah is so friendly and welcoming. Very communicative. My flight into Rome was delayed and I was worried to keep her waiting, but she was so understanding! The apartment was even better than the images. Everything was great. The beds are very firm and comfortable---even the fold out futon. The balcony was the best part. We were able to look out onto the corner and see people walking by throughout the day. One issue for me personally was the street noise during the night, as I am a very very light sleeper, but it's nothing a pair of earplugs won't fix! Amazing perspective to see Rome from. Also--- the neighborhood is wonderful. Would definitely recommend. A great home base to see the city from .
Even though we arrived after midnight Debora's husband greeted us at the flat. The apartment is lovely and large, is in a great location and has an adorable balcony. Most importantly, it was clean and it's great to have wifi. It was also really helpful to have essentials such as coffee and sugar available although there's a little grocer just beneath the flat. A few things needed maintenance so we informed the host once we'd left as it may be that they were not aware, for example, that the boiler needs seeing to. We were happy to stay in this apartment and will look it up again when back in la bella citta'.
Had a wonderful time in Deborah's apartment. An excellent location in the Monti neighbourhood. It was good walking distance to the Colosseum and ancient sites, amazing gelato up the street. Easy walk to the metro.
We really appreciated the vibe, facilities, and the chance to be in a relaxed space in Rome. Thank you!
