The accommodation was advertised as: "Luxurious, calm and spacious room". It was not luxurious, a cat sleeping in my room with hairs all over my bed and chair could not be considered luxurious. I was also greeted by a filthy bathroom, with dirt all over the bath and hairs in the sink, and no toilet tissue. Again I don't imagine anyone could call the accommodation calm considering that the actual owner of the property (not the person renting through Air BnB) accosted me and said I wasn't allowed to stay in the property, then continued to bang on the front door continually, due to the 'Air bnb' host illegally subletting, I was informed that the owner had told him that he wasn't allowed to rent previously but continued doing so - this is the reason the apartment listing is currently hidden. I was also told I would be living alone, other than his flat mate moving in - it turned out I arrived to meet a girl and her cat, then later his flat mate and also him living in the apartment. Contrary to what was advertised, there was no WIFI in the room, only an intermittent signal in the kitchen. I was told a home cinema in the apartment, and later two computer screens in the room - there was no home cinema, only a monitor and a very small TV that was not connected to anything. I was told parking was not a problem and would be no parking restrictions, there actually turned out to be a two hour parking limit, so I would have had to continually move my vehicle over the course of my stay, I was told I could park in front of the garage - but this was not possible on occasions due to motorcycles being parked near the entrance, in the process my car got damaged. The listing also stated a bottle of Rioja wine would be waiting for me - it wasn't, the only thing that was waiting was the long list of problems as listed, along with me having to search for alternative accommodation, and being assured I'd be given a refund for the shambles that I had experienced. I told him about these issues as soon as I arrived, and he said he would deal with them (cleaning the bathroom, sorting the WIFI out, dealing with the owner of the apartment, getting a bottle of wine etc. None of were actually dealt with), as for parking problems, and cats and unexpected people living there these were ignored. I stayed only for a couple of nights and immediately started looking for alternative accommodation, I had wasted time looking for alternative accommodation, the expense of damage to my car and the inconvenience and expense of fuel having to drive out of town each evening to stay at alternative accommodation.
Christian's place was easy to find and very comfortable. It's right in the heart of the Mission, but set back from the street on a courtyard - so the noise from the street is muted.
Christian was very friendly and accommodating. Picking up the keys was a snap. There are many places to eat and drink just steps from the apartment. And it's very convenient to multiple bus lines and to the 16th Street BART station.
Heck, the area around this apartment (16th and Valencia, and Dolores Park) is my favorite in the city. It's a fantastic location, though urban and thus not silent at night. For a San Franciscan apartment, it's huge, light-filled, has a big kitchen and in-unit laundry. You'll live better than most San Franciscans! :)
I'd definitely recommend staying here.
