Just as described, so if you like the description and the look you can't go wrong. Defiantly reminded me of camping but with all the luxuries to keep you comfortable. I really liked it. So charming and totally private. Great to get away or have a nice experience that is unlike any other. A wonderful little cottage house unlike any other you are likely to stay in again.
Lovely stay up in Topanga. Sweet little cabin - shared bathroom, you can see the sky through the plastic roof... perfect for feeling peaceful in the bush.
As we drove up a rutted dirt road and arrived at our modest adobe, we were unsure if a hotel would have been wiser. However, after three days, we wished we could have stayed longer. The air is rejuvenating, fresh and moist from the ocean and mountains. There are several nearby hiking trails, and we enjoyed the vegan fare at Fresh in Topanga. The unit was very cozy, included a kitchen and was very functional. David was welcoming and a great host. Highly recommended!
We had a clean and comfortable stay in this out-of-the-way rustic setting. We didn't meet David while we were there, but he did leave detailed instructions and suggestions for things to do. It's a dirt road leading up to the house with lots of potholes, and you might miss the sign if you're driving at night because it's very dark, but that does lead to it being a great place for stargazing. You can also hear plenty of crickets and frogs at night, and hummingbirds and songbirds during the day. The room stayed warm through the night with a silent space heater, and the place was clean and tidy with dishes, hot plate, electric kettle, and fridge in the kitchenette. We agreed that it was kind of like an upgrade to RV camping - quite rustic, a few spiders in the ceiling corners, moths loving the porch light, etc. Our only complaint was that there were people walking above us throughout the night, and although they were quiet, the ceiling creaked with the movement. We're light sleepers, so if we had brought our loud fan for white noise, we'd probably been fine (we only brought a small one). Overall, it was a good deal for the price. We ate at The Canyon Bistro which has excellent food and definitely the place to be on a Friday night. We also drove down to PCH in the morning and saw some orcas swimming up the coast. If you want to get out of LA but not travel too far, check out this spot. Compared to the popular B&B in town, this AirBnB place is much more affordable and peaceful. Save your money and see the stars.
The sound of frogs, after the recent rains and the hooting of the owl lulled me to sleep. Very grateful to have found this oasis. A calm, soothing sanctuary after a day of work away from home. The sound of the frogs at night, after the recent rains, the hooting of the owls lulled me to sleep. Very grateful to have found this bohemian oasis. No TV (thankfully) to distract, but wireless internet connect is strong if you wish to say connected, or in my case, continue working. Thank you David for sharing your space. Very much appreciated.
Such an amazing place! I can't give it enough praise. It is very rustic and it's pretty much like stepping back a century but that is exactly what we wanted. Super comfy bed and it was lovely to fall asleep to the cracking fire. Taking a morning bath outside with coffee and the mountains misting in the sunlight was perfect. Highly recommended!
The location is beautiful. David was so kind and came to greet us as we arrived at the cottage after dark. The cottage is definitely rustic, but everything is up to date and nice. If you're looking for something a bit out of the city this is a gorgeous place- though the cottages etc. are set quite close to each other. There wasn't as much privacy or an in-the-middle-of-the-woods feel as I was hoping for- but this is only because of the wonderful community of tiny cottages David keeps on the land. It would be perfect for large groups who want to rent out a few of the cottages and all be close.
The weekend I booked ended up being covered in severe storms and flash flood warnings so I emailed David to see if I could save my credit and move it to a later date. After all, this trip was so I could enjoy nature and be outside. I didn't feel safe staying in an unknown area while this storm system was moving through. He has yet to reply.
Amazing. I came to this location, and got so excited I unpacked in the enchanted cottage. It's really a special place, and I will absolutely be back. I then realized I was in the wrong place and moved myself to the Hacienda Hideaway. It was so perfect! New bathroom, a cozy couch and a comfy bed. Right outside the door was a hot sauna!!! There is limited space to hang clothes, but I suspect that might be different soon. This whole place is pretty magical and really the only place that captures the feeling of the magical Topanga Canyon. I will be back for sure…. Thank you David...
We loved the creative suite! An authentic Topanga Canyon experience! The bed was super comfy, the furnishings eclectic and fun. I loved having a little kitchen, full sized fridge. So many great hikes nearby. Fun and friendly little community of people . Next time we want to check out the little cabins! We will be back!
