Wow. We absolutely loved this place! We wanted a quick and relaxing getaway for a night, and got exactly what we wanted. The description is absolutely correct, this is not The Hilton, this is a totally different experience.
Not only was the entire place decorated in such a fun way, but they have an alcove bed hidden past the staircase! So romantic!
The surrounding town is a breath of fresh air, with small antique shops and family-owned restaurants, to countless hiking trails. We just loved it. 10 out of 10 would book again!
David was very welcoming and the place was very tranquil and peaceful. If you are looking for a place that is different and enjoy the peace and quite of the mountains, this is an awesome place to stay at.
David's place was a cool getaway in a really neat area. Hard to believe we were only about 20 minutes from Santa Monica! We didn't meet David, but he was helpful beforehand and recommended some trails nearby for my girlfriend and I to hike. We did the Parker Mesa Overlook, which had a great view of Santa Monica and the ocean at the end.
The hacienda is rustic, so as long as you're expecting that it'll be great. We particularly enjoyed the hammock just outside, where you can lay and look up at the stars and listen to the frogs.
We are from Brooklyn and were expecting a bit more for our money. The surroundings were breathtaking but the room itself felt slapped together (in terms of building materials and craftsmanship). We didn't stay the night because we had work the following morning and needed to be sure we could get a secure night's rest. Definitely a place to stay if you are looking for an outdoorsy adventure and not if you are used to comforts or being pampered.
Everyone is super friendly. Hate writing a bad review but wanting to be honest.
I loved this cottage, it was so peaceful and exactly what I needed. The surrounding property is gorgeous, and the town is so close by it was easy to pop down when I needed. Loved it.
We had a great experience and would happily stay here again!
Our suite was very clean, comfortable and cozy. The property is truly one of a kind: very unique, eclectic, rustic and charming. We enjoyed the great views of the surrounding mountains and forests. It was very serene, quiet and peaceful.
The location is great. It feels very remote and private but it's just right up the road from Topanga Village where there are lots of shops, restaurants and cafes. It is also just a short drive to the beaches of Malibu along the PCH.
Our host David was very hospitable and quick to respond to any of our needs. Overall we had a great time and were very pleased.
Overall good. Accurate description. Clean rooms. Too remote and too rustic for my taste. Literally no ATT mobile service there. That made me stay only for the night and didn't get to experience the area much.
We had a good experience while staying at The Creative Suite. The place is small, perfect for two people, not more than that. Do not expect items in this house to be new, they are pretty run down but they do the job and your stay can be made special if you don't require much material things to survive. The actual grounds are amazing, if you like to be close to nature this place is definitely for you. Please know this house has a tenant that lives right on top, noise tolerance to the level of talking past 9:30 is not tolerated. We were asked on one occasion to please refrain from talking or watching TV. Overall, I would recommend this place if you are truly a nature lover, that includes loving all types of bugs! :)
Topanga Canyon is certainly a unique area within the Santa Monica Mountains. This is true of both the landscape as well as the people who live here.
That said, the hosts were friendly and cordial. The space was private and suitable to our needs. The area was lush and lovely to take in. Bathroom was super clean.
More attention to detail would benefit this room- fixing up odds and ends along the walls, trimming & hemming curtains, etc.
A fine stay.
Originally I was going to stay there two nights but I left after one night the heater wasn't working and it was freezing. I Was trying to contact David but unfortunately there was no service so we had to be freezing on the whole night. You pretty much buy your own there and you have to find the place All by yourself which can be confusing. There will be no one to pick up the phone or help you. Place didn't look quite as magical as on the pictures and it was nothing like I imagined. I thought it was kind of dirty and the bathroom has open wall to the kitchen which we had to share with other people so it was kind of uncomfortable to take a shower there. Overall I think the entire place was overpriced I used to stay in places like this but I paid $20 Per night not $120 and they called hostels cause that's exactly how the place looks like. I tried to contact David about the heater issue letting him know I was leaving earlier and I haven't heard back from him days after he promised me partial refund but that was about it I haven't heard from him for about week now and I didn't get my Refund. I understand about Strict consolation policy but he was the one who offered it at the first place .
A perfect guest who has left me many good suggestions to improve the apartment. During the stay there was tremendous rainfall and a major flooding of the apartment. The wooden floor has been badly damaged and will need to be replaced. I hope to see the guest again after all improvements have been inplemented.
