I'm a native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, and have been living in San Miguel de Allende since 2008. My career has included freelance writing and book editing, public relations consulting, sponsorship marketing, several entrepreneurial ventures, hosting three different radio talk shows, teaching at a university, corporate speechwriting, and business development. In San Miguel I work at home as a book editor and I host a bilingual karaoke show twice a week.
I enjoy hosting travelers to San Miguel de Allende because I love living here and want to show off my little town! My own travel destinations and long-term stays have included almost every U.S. state; Toronto and Vancouver, Canada; several parts of Mexico; China; Australia; and all of Western Europe. I have traveled by air, train, bus, car, freighter, hovercraft, donkey cart and sampan.
My housemate and partner, Aarón Romo, moved to San Miguel from Mexico City in 1997. He is a professional bass player (both electric and upright), singer, and occasional percussionist in a salsa band, a Latin jazz trio, and two rock bands. Most nights of the week you'll find him performing somewhere in San Miguel, sometimes at two different locations in one night. Aarón is fluent in English and teaches both Spanish and English part time. If you're looking for a private tutor while you're here, he's your man!
In our off hours, we enjoy lolling about on the rooftop terrace with a glass of wine, dining out at a favorite restaurant, reading, or watching movies. Occasionally we go to the hot springs for the day, head to the park for a pickup basketball game (Aarón) or get up early and go mountain biking (Anne).
Aarón and I work together to find long-term rental homes for people moving to San Miguel, so let us know if you decide to stay (it happens often here!) and we'll make sure you've got a great place to live.
While you're staying with us, we'll do our best to help you find your way around and have a wonderful time in San Miguel de Allende, "El Corazón de México"!
