Writer living in NYC with a weekend cabin I inherited from my dad. Once upon a time, I lived there full time. Perhaps one day I will again. Till then, please enjoy my little red cabin.

We loved the Little Red Cabin and so did our dog Perci. It is very cozy. The fenced yard is perfect for the four-legged critters. There was plenty of dry wood for the wood stove, which was great since it was a little chilly over the weekend we were there. The walk to town is very quick, and we enjoyed several of the restaurants that Rachel recommended. We had to haul our garbage back to NYC because the grumpy dude at the town dump wouldn't let us put it in their dumpster! I guess they are really strict about that. The Little Red Cabin is a great place to stay and I have a feeling we will be return visitors!
Amazing! Loved everything about Rachel's little cabin! Excellent kitchen set up, nice and clean, plenty of firewood, close to town and bus stop from and to NYC. Also was super handy to be walking distance to hiking trails ;-) we loved loved loved the Phoenicia diner, only about a 10-15 minute walk away. This cabin is really the best!
Rachel was a wonderful host! She was extremely responsive and very accommodating to our requests. She was flexible and helpful with recommendations for places to eat and things to do in the area. We never would have thought to go to the super awesome Peekamoose restaurant if she hadn't mentioned it in her welcome note. The cabin was adorable and super quirky. The decor was fun and the layout was really cool. We really enjoyed the secluded and remote feeling of the place while actually being only like a 2 minute walk across a bridge into the main strip of Phoenicia. All in all we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend Rachel and her little red cabin.
We had a wonderful stay at the little red cabin- it was fully equipped, the fire is fantastic and heated the cabin so well... great views and very private. Great location- walking distance to town of Phoenicia & you can hear the river from the cabin. The only issue is that you could also hear the road, so it interrupted the 'remote' feeling of the cabin- it isn't a majorly busy road and it goes quiet at night so doesn't interfere with sleep at all.

We had such a great stay at the little red cabin. The cabin interior is super cozy and has your basic kitchen and bath necessities. The cabin has a large fenced yard that our dog absolutely loved. We felt very secluded even though you could hear a few cars pass by on the route 28 during the day but rarely at night. The little town of Phoenicia is just a quick walk from the cabin which has great restaurants that are all super dog friendly! We enjoyed all the recommendations that Rachel gave to us before that were extremely helpful during our stay. A car isn't really necessary but having rented one it gave us the opportunity to visit and hike around Woodstock, Kingtson and Saugerties. We loved our stay!
Rachel was great, very responsive and we felt well-supported during our stay! The cabin was adorable, comfortable and stocked with good-quality kitchen tools. There is no cell service but the wifi works very well. The fridge is a bit small so you probably don't want to over-shop on your way to the cabin, but that's not a problem because you're better off shopping at farm-stands for your daily food anyway. The cabin gets amazing light all day-long, but for the same reason, anyone that has trouble sleeping in brightness should be sure to bring an eye mask. Our only real complaint was the cabin's proximity to the route 28 overpass, which was somewhat noisy, and not evident from the listing. Otherwise the location is fantastic and the cabin, delightful and comfortable.
The cabin was great! Comfortably furnished, plenty of natural light, and private. The crisp, refreshing mountain air may have been the star of the show. Phoenicia was incredibly charming as well, and the town center was a ~1 minute walk from our mountain redoubt. Check out Brio's for great pizza and friendly service, tube the Esopus, and hike the Tanbark trail for a some great scenic panoramas of the town and surrounding valley. We didn't bring a dog, but this town seemed extremely dog-friendly, as was the cabin with its fenced in yard.
A cozy comfortable cabin with a roomy feel. Secluded because of the trees and being slightly up hill of the street. A short walk to the town of Phoenicia which has some nice restaurants and shops. Loved everything about this experience! Rachel was very diligent about making sure you had everything you need.
Beautiful!!! The experience was wonderful! Rachel was extremely helpful and communicative and the cabin is calming and relaxing. We couldn't have asked for a better place to unplug and spend a secluded weekend away from the city. Keep in mind you are responsible for your own trash removal, so daily trips to public trash cans would be best.
Rachel was a great guest! Friendly open and respectful of our house. I had a great time chatting and getting to know her and her friend.
Happy to receive the couple, very friendly, very careful, I recommend them without a doubt!
The Little Red Cabin provided us with a much-needed escape from the city. Surrounded by forest, 5 minutes away from the town and right next to the Esopus river, it’s in an ideal location for hiking and exploring the area. The owner, Rachel, is incredibly hospitable, responsive, and a pleasure to deal with. The cabin is comfortable and spacious for 2 or 3 people – we made much use of the fully-equipped kitchen and had leisurely meals on the front patio admiring trees and the clouds and an occasional scurrying chipmunk. Peaceful, relaxing, and comfortable.
Mike’s Bikes in town is a good place to rent bikes and go exploring the area. The Tanbark hiking trail behind post office is also highly recommended – beautiful views of the mountains and the village. If you make it to Sweet Sue’s for pancakes, order 1 short stack for 2 people – the pancakes, while quite delicious, belong in the Guinness Book of World Records for size!
Dear Rachel, Thanks for opening your eclectic, colorful, cozy cabin so people can enjoy what it has to offer. We have some great memories. The river was so relaxing. Fires at night in your cozy cabin were too perfect. We were amazed by the great hiking nearby, especially the rock formations & waterfalls on the Tanbark Trail behind the post office. We also had a great time shoveling pig poop & helping out at the Woodstock Animal Farm Sanctuary! What a great place to volunteer. Thanks again!
