This summer will be the Mother-in-Law Road Trip; Daniel, me, his mum, my mom, touring Britain for 2 weeks! Then my mom and I will stay in London for an extra week. My mom is 72 and has back problems, so it's always a challenge to sleuth out the places with lifts or not too many stairs (since I carry most of the luggage!). We're looking forward to visiting castles, gardens and the museums.
I used Airbnb last summer to book the most amazing Dublin home and was spoiled beyond anything a hotel could offer by the space and the helpfulness of our host. My husband, Daniel, used Airbnb to find a private room near his parents' home in London when he visited them last autumn. We're both hooked now and don't want to travel any other way. Daniel's profile is: https://www.airbnb.com/users/show/9772906 .
I love photography, gardens and cats, and yes, photographing cats in gardens would likely make me explode with happiness.
We put some of our photographs on luminantphotography, com
As a traveler I like to take my time with each sight rather than seeing several things lightly. I spent about 10 hours at Versailles (hey, the fountains and music were going! And I took a tour. Really, it's that the light was great, spring flowers were blooming, and I was transported). Rick Steves is my go-to-guy for travel advice, but I learned long ago to laugh at his advice on how long a sight will take, or how many of them I can see in a day.
