Donna and I have been working on restoring this mid 1800s home for the past 10 years. We hope that you will be pleased with your stay here.
The apartment was lovely. It was clean, relaxing, spacious and the bed was more comfortable than our own bed at home! David was gracious and generously opened the apartment to be available to us over the holidays when it is usually not open for rental. David allowed us to bring our dog, and we enjoyed walking her down the country road adjacent to the property. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it for both comfort and value.
This is a marvelous place to stay. We luxuriated in a beautiful king sized bed. The apartment is very spacious and clean. Very nice people and fantastic value for money. You look out from the bedroom window to beautiful Maryland rolling farm land.
Well worth a stay.
Place was great. I would stay again. Stayed there a few days while traveling from Florida to finger lakes New York. Spent some time biking C&O canal near Harpers Ferry, visiting Gettysburg, Antietam,& Harpers Ferry. I did have plans to take in a national's game DC which was interrupted by the Navy shootings. This is a good central location to go from for visiting the battlefields & ballparks Baltimore&Washington DC. The place is clean & open feel very comfortable for 2couples or family of 4.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at David and Donna's restored country home! Being from southern PA, I was hoping to stay in the country and revisit the winding hills of the region....I was not disappointed! Splendid area and very lovely home! Westminster is nearby and is a quaint town with delicious food joints and the scenic drive is well worth the distance for dinner.
The apartment is spacious, and the building has lots of charm. The house fronts a road that has some truck traffic, but it dies down at night time. There is plenty of backyard for kids to run or toss a Frisbee. The hosts were very helpful.
This area has great roads for cycling - some of the rural side roads had crazy steep climbs! I would recommend at least 39x27 gearing (I brought a 39x21, and I did a lot of 40 rpm grinding).
We spent a great period exploring the surroundings of Frederick during our stay with David and Donna. The apartment itself was very spacious and absolutely feasible for 4 people with two nice bedrooms. The kitchen was also very well equipped.
We were put in touch with the company who organises the rental of the aparment by our American friends. We booked in December 2012 for June 2013 for two weeks whilst our son, Benjamin was out in Maryland playing Lacrosse for a week and we had a second week afterwards. The apartment was as advertised. It was a fantastic first floor apratment which had all that one required for a comfrotable two week stay. The master bed room bed was beyond belief.. so comfy and a large bed. Airconditioning in both bedrooms and the main room. This proved invaluable as is was so hot and humid during our stay. The apartment was in an ideal location for us for getting to the lacrosse venues and for sightseeing-Gettysburg, Washington DC, Baltimore, Westminster etc. It was in a lovely part of the Country and secluded. Both Donn and David were exceptional hosts and spent time when we saw them talking to us. TDonna was tehre on arrival to show us around. We would very much like to thank them both for making our two week stayso memorable and their hospitality and hope to return one day in the very near future... it's looking like we could be back for a week early next year if things go to plan. Would would recommend this apartment to anyone who likes peace and quiet and comfort as we never saw a sole only buzzards.
This was our 3rd stay in Union Bridge at David and Donnas' place. We were on our final trip from Tennessee to Maryland in preparation for our daughter's wedding. We stayed for 5 days and as before, it was a peaceful haven from the hectic activities in wedding planning. In the future we will use this location when visiting our daughter and son-in-law. Thanks guys for making it available, it was perfect for us!
I really loved staying here. The apartment was even nicer than the pictures and David was a gracious and helpful host. The countryside is beautiful. I surely do hope I can come back again and stay longer.
Arrived late due to flight delays and found Donna waiting for us on the front porch. On finding we hadn't eaten, and there being no restaurants close by, she offered us bacon and eggs to cook!
The apartment was great, spacious and private, and very comfortable. As a base for touring civil war battlefields, it's hard to beat!
Very nice and thoughtful guests!
David and Donna were lovely guests. I can't say enough about them except that I can't recommend them enough. They are clean, considerate, down to Earth, good people. I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them and would love to see them again someday.
Quiet, spacious and beautifully decorated, with a private entrance in this pre Civil War homestead on park like settings. I would recommend this apartment to anyone staying in the area. The homeowners will happily suggest eateries and attractions. Hit some auctions while you're there!
