I love travelling with my gorgeous family and wonderful friends. We adore our lives between Australia & Bali
My family and I have just returned from a week's holiday at Indah Balangah Villa. The villa exceeded our expectations. It is simply beautiful and in the most marvellous rustic setting less than 1 kilometre from Balangan Beach. Putu, Made, Madee and Ketut pulled out all the stops to ensure we were treated like royalty during our stay. They were also a wonderful help with our 12 month old baby grandson. Wonderful family holiday memories. !!
We have just had a terrific 5 nights at Indah Balangan. The villa was a very comfortable home for our family group (3 adults and 2 young children). The villa staff were fantastically helpful during our stay, providing great recommendations on top of the superb holiday ideas Michelle provided. Waking up to the sounds of birds, crickets and cows was a very nice change, as was not having to pack car seats, travel cots, strollers, books and toys for our little ones thanks to a very well stocked villa! While we needed to hop in Putu's car to go places (as our kids are young and not so keen on longer walks which could be done with older kids) we enjoyed having a quiet place to call home. The beds are comfy and the pool and not-so-mini-bar were extremely well used! We left feeling blessed to have had such a relaxing holiday in the villa!
The staff at Indah Balangan Villa are really nice. They are very helpful and friendly. They keep the place tidy and clean for all of us.
On the first night we had seafood dinner prepared for around $25/person. It was really worth it because the quality of meal exceeded the seafood restaurants on Jimbaran Bay. Ketut can really cook well. My family was really impressed and we had some left overs for breakfast the next morning :)
The villa was beautiful as in the picture, almost everything works well. Only the water pressure sometime unpredictable. Also the power went off several times when we were there but it wasn't the villa's fault. The whole area was blacked out. Maybe it'll be great if there is a generator to back up if such thing happen.
Location wise, it's a bit far from shops (around 20 minutes by car) but close to the beach (around 10 minutes by car). When we were there, we almost didn't go out. We just stayed at the villa most of the time.
One important note if you're staying in this place: it'll be best to do some groceries shopping before you go to the villa. You can stock up on bottle water, beers, fruits, chips, etc so it'll save you time. Also you need to bring your own toiletries.
In conclusion, we enjoyed staying at Indah Balangan Villa.
Michelle did her best to accomodate our company of 7 on a very short note and we were welcomed by staff with a cold towels and juices. Villa is nice, all 4 bedrooms are very private, lounge areas nicely decorated and very spacious. Outdoor space is pretty small, but pool is really very safe (we had 14 months old baby), just in pictures looking a bit bigger. Staff was very kind and attentive, just do not rely on driver Putu, he didn't come to drop us to the airport as agreed nor picked up the phone, so thanks to villa manager Made, who quickly solved this problem. Beach is reachable in walking distance although in heat is better to take bikes. It's really beautiful.
good experience, driver was helpful, thanks putu
We had a fantastic time at Indah Balangan. It was ideally set up for our two families with five girls between us aged 9-14. We loved Ketut and Made and little Putu, they were so nice and helpful and a pleasure to engage with. We knew it was well away from the hustle of places like Kuta and we really enjoyed the peace of the place. It was pretty hot walking to the beach, which is about a ten minute walk and we would have really appreciated some way of getting there like a local taxi, bemo or even a drop off for a small fee, but that aside, Fins bar at the beach was fantastic with great food and we probably needed the exercise anyway. The villa was clean, the food was delicious and the layout was absolutely perfect for all of us. We had a lovely time.
We started out our research for a holiday villa, with two main criteria:
1) Near the beach 2) A villa suitable for a young family. ( with a toddler)
Like many travellers to Bali, we, in the months running up to our trip, must have researched over 1000 properties.
In the beginning, I found many fantastic villas with great pools but no pool fences. Initially we rationalised the hazards away with things like 'there will always be an adult present' & 'we can simply use armbands'.
But as time passed, we became more pragmatic and refined our search down to villas with pool fences only.
In this category Bali has 3 main options to offer:
2)Bamboo fenced pools
3) Glass fenced pools
In all my research I found mainly raised pools and pools that could be fenced with bamboo on request.
I think in all my time on Trip advisor, Airbnb, Vrbo and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), Indah Belangan Villa was the only one with a glass fenced pool.
Having a glassed fenced pool not only provides safety, but unlike the raised and bamboo options it also allows you to enjoy the view of the pool from ground level.
For this reason, the proximity to the beach and the beautiful living space, we went with Michelle's Indah Belangan Villa and I am happy to report back, it turned out to be a great choice.
Our toddler was able to run about to his heart's content and provided that the pool gate was checked, there was very little to worry about for the duration of our stay.
For this reason alone, we would consider Indah Belangan villa a top 5 choice for young families with toddlers (1-3yrs) visiting Bali and looking for a pool villa.
Of course this villa is so much more than just a crèche for toddlers, but we will leave that to parents with teenagers and surfing families to tell you why that is.
Finally no review would be complete with a little list of the good and the not so good.
1) Living space is even more spacious than it looks in the pictures
2)The villa is set, in elevated position, so it gets a lovely breeze from nearby coastline. Even for Bali, the villa is very comfortable temperature wise.
3) There are hardly any mosquitoes.
4) A very well put together personalized villa info pack and daily itinerary was received by email out prior holiday.
5) Staff are friendly, family orientated, discreet and very much there to help you almost 24/7.
NOT SO GOOD:
1) Location is very remote and you will definitely need to hire the villa car at £25 a day to get anywhere . This needs to be factored in to your costs.
2) Water pressure in the showers was a little low and the shower thermostat was fiddly to get to the right temperature.
3) Complimentary breakfast items were lovely, but were not enough on their own to appease everyone's hunger.
We had the most fantastic stay at Michelle's villa in Balangan. Ketut, Made and the other staff were so lovely and made our stay so enjoyable. Special shout out to the amazing nasi goreng and mie goreng we ate everyday! The villa was beautiful and clean, pool was fantastic. Great place to stay with a group of friends a some families. I cried when we said goodbye to Ketut :) Communication with Michelle and her staff was great, we loved it and would definitely stay again! Thank you :)
We were picked up at the airport on time by Putu as scheduled (he actually went back to also pick up my sister and family and my parents who landed different times). Waiting for us as we arrived was Ketut, Made, 'little' Putu and some refreshing drinks -- hit the spot! I can't speak highly enough of our experience. Everything was perfect! The villa was gorgeous, service was superior (house kept beyond clean) and personalized (Ketut knew exactly how I wanted my coffee every morning) and the food they made for us was excellent. My sister and my kids (12, 12, 11, 9) loved their bunk-bed room, able to watch movies, had their own living room, and loved the pool (my youngest even learned how to do flips and gained confidence to swim in the deep end). We celebrated two birthdays and without saying a word, they surprised us with a birthday cake and a round of singing =) The other bedrooms were perfect and we all took advantage of the Gazebo and even one day on the backyard to play some soccer. The setting was extremely peaceful (outside the roosters) which we cherished with young kids and knew all places were within a reasonable drive. Multiple restaurants are within walking distance.
We loved that Michelle prepared a suggested itinerary. While we had done our own research before-hand, the ideas, especially where to eat was bang-on!
The beach was within walking distance (bring water shoes) but catered more for surfers as the tides/waves are fairly strong for young kids. But Bali has so many beaches that we got to enjoy that it was no issue.
We took advantage of the massages at La Joya and they were heavenly at an amazing price ($24/1hr deep tissue) on a cliff setting with the waves lapping creating a peaceful environment.
Finally, I can't say enough about Putu (driver). He was phenomenal as a tour guide and became an extended member of the family, joining us for many a dinner. It was funny to see him wear a wool hat as we got ready to climb Mount Batur.
We had the best time and would highly recommend the place to everyone!
