We stayed for 4 nights at the Pookela Paradise (PP) after some time on the South West side of the island. The change of "flavour" of the Maui experience was wonderful. PP is set on a residential side street of Makawao, which is a small, sweet town with lots of good restaurant options. The feel of the area is quiet and serene (despite the cacophony of birds and roosters, which to me just adds to the serene feeling). You feel much more a part of daily life on Maui....it's kind of like getting away from the Disneyland aspect of Maui and into the real thing. The house itself was extremely clean and well maintained. The kitchen was large and well stocked. It was the perfect setting for two couples hanging out, making dinners, and enjoying the surroundings. From booking to the time we were on site, Mark was always very quick and helpful in his response to queries. The only flaw in the overall perfection were the next door dogs, who would whine and bark sometimes - particularly in the later afternoon when we wanted to be napping (hey, we were on holiday!). Overall, I would highly recommend this property, and really encourage others to experience this part of Maui.
Great place, well appointed kitchen, and a sunset show every night.
Great guest !! Mark treated our little condo with the upmost respect and left it the perfect condition. Thanks for coming up Mark and if your ever up again dont hesitate to stay again. Good luck in the Nationals.
