I'm 49 years old, born in Rome, working like designer
We have had a very good stay at Daniele's apartment. The apartment is beautiful and well taken care of. We spent most of our time in the city, but when we were at Daniele's he has been a most helpful and welcome host.
Although the apartment is easy to reach via the metro at Piramide, it can, in some cases, be a little out of the way. Upside of that is having the nice, and not so touristic, neighbourhoods of Ostiense and Testaccio close by.
Couldn't have had a better experience!
Daniele was very kind to wait for our 1am arrival from the airport.
The room is large, comfortable and bright, with nice views. The kitchenette was great to prepare some coffee in the morning and get ready to hit town.
We were hanging out with friends so our schedules made it that we would rarely see Daniele. We wish we had more of a chance to get to know him and learn a bit more about what Rome is for locals.
Regardless, the neighborhood is nice and interesting and seems to have a healthy nightlife, as well as being well connected to older parts of town and the airport.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying at Daniele's place.
Daniele was extremely helpful and provided us with very good advice about Rome and Italy, including what to see besides well-known sites and where to eat.
The room itself is very comfortable: very bright, with a high ceiling, it has a desk, a table, a fridge and electric plates for cooking. It is very convenient, as there is a supermarket 5/6 minutes away and a large department store specializing in Italian food products ("Eataly"). If you ever need something, Daniele will always help you! As a designer, he also has many interesting things to talk about.
A couple of minutes away, there is the Piramide subway station that will take you to Termini in less than 10 minutes. There is also the Ostiense train station 5 minutes away from Daniele's place, with a train that takes you directly to Fiumicino airport (very convenient).
The area surrounding the appartment is very interesting as well. You can find an old slaughterhouse turned into a complex of art galleries and organic food markets, a hill rich in bars and clubs, the non-catholic cemetary that has John Keats' grave in it, and a few good trattorias.
We had a very good time in Rome and I definitely recommend anyone to stay at Daniele's place, to enjoy a convenient and central location as well as a vibrant neighborhood.
Daniele is a very kind person. I have met him through common friends. He is discreet, reliable and helpful - whenever I have invited him he has been the first to help me wash the dishes! :)
As a designer, he invests a lot of efforts and taste in shaping his environment. His place is therefore very tastefully decorated and organised in a smart way.
He makes people feel comfortable and this makes him an ideal host.
