We loved our stay in Monterosso and Valentina welcomed us and escorted to the apartment as soon as we arrived. It was an easy walk from the train station and the apartment is not far from the beach. The Focaccaria was a delicious place to eat breakfast - coffee and homemade pastry. The apartment was clean, had good wifi access and a deck that was fun to sit out on and it even had a clothesline with clothespins! We went to two other Cinqua Terra towns during our stay and liked Monterosso the best. It was fun to walk on the beach and eat at cafés right on the beach. Overall our stay at Guiseppe and Valentina's apartment was outstanding. They do offer two apartments and we stayed in the one with a bed, bunk beds and a deck.
Giuseppe's room is clean and quiet. It is large enough with a nice balcony to sit outside. A very nice feature. The private bathroom is large with a nice shower, but the hot water will only last about 2 minutes if it is used continually. Just turn off the water while you soap up and it is not a problem. No big deal.
It is about a 3 minute walk down to the main road from the apartment, which is on the 2nd floor. Then around the corner to focacceria Antonio for a very nice breakfast of terrific pastries and cappuccino.
The train station is a 3 minute walk to focacceria Antonio. So, it is close and convenient, a definite plus. This area is new town and has the beach and nice places to eat and see the water. A 10 minute walk south through the tunnel and you arrive in old town, an area with many more restaurants but set back from the sea. Very charming.
We liked Monterosso very much and prefer it for our stay in le Cinque Terre. All 5 towns are very close and you can see all of them from Monterosso. All easily accessible via train, boat or foot.
We did not meet Giuseppe but everyone at focacceria Antonio was very nice and helpful. Email communication with Giuseppe was very good and check in and check out was very easy ( this is done at focacceria Antonio).
Thank you for a very nice stay and we hope to return some day.
Staying at this B&B marks our first experience with an Airbnb and it was a lovely experience. We arrived around 9am and left our luggage at the Focacceria Antonio which was within a 5 minute walk from the Monterosso train station. The place was easy to find. From there, it took within 5 minutes to reach the apartment. The room was clean with basic amenities. Fresh towels were provided and the wifi was great. In fact, I felt that the room was better than the hotel that I stayed in Milan prior to my trip to Monterosso. Yes, you do hear some noise and the train passing by but it isn't disturbing. The shower was working although it took a while to get the temperature right. For breakfast, it was awesome! The focaccia was so delicious and we wanted to buy some for our train ride. However, the hosts were very gracious and gave them to us. The chocolate tart was amazing too, with chocolate oozing out in every bite. All in all, a great and lovely stay! Wish we could stay longer but now, I also know who to look for when I visit Monterosso again!
Our host greeted us with a big smile but was busy so a lovely girl who works with him took us the few blocks to our room and helped carry a big suitcase up two flights of stairs. The room was fine, quiet, and clean. no view or special features....we had a little issue with the hot water taking a looong time in the shower. But breakfast was nice.....eat whatever sweet delight you wish from the bakery. staff extra sweet.
The place was about a 10 minute walk from the station and the host gave good directions. It was also a 5 minute walk to the beach which was nice. The room was clean and had a private bathroom and balcony. Breakfast at the focacceria was good. The place is on the third floor so consider this if you have big luggages. Monterosso was very beautiful and we wish we could've stayed longer!
We stayed in the room with the balcony. The balcony does not have an actual seaview, but it's a nice place to sit outside and listen to the waves. The bathroom is really clean. We dealt mainly with Valentina, Giuseppe's sister. She greeted us and showed us to our room. The room is walking distance to the beach. When we arrived, the room felt really far from the train station, but that was mainly because it was hot and we were carrying our heavy luggage. While the train station is located in new town with the beaches, more of the nightlife and restaurants are in old town. Every morning after 0800, Valentina would serve us each one of their wonderful pastries and drinks in Bar Focaccia Antonio. We enjoyed our stay.
Our stay at Giuseppe's b&b was excellent! He gave us easy to follow directions and the check in was a breeze. The Focacceria was wonderful! We each had a snack im the early afternoon & it was so nice to have breakfast included! The b&b is easy to find, clean, and perfect for a stay in Monterrosso. Thank you Giuseppe & your staff! We felt right at home.
Giusepp's b&b was great, close to everything. We really enjoyed breakfast at the focacceria, there were no problems at all - though I would have liked to take Roberta out for a beer. :P
The room was simple and clean. While it was small, it had what we needed - we didn't spend much time in there anyway. It was a 5 minute walk to the beach and to the main street, which was great. Unfortunately, the bed was extremely uncomfortable - and I'm being generous. I literally had bruises on my hips from the springs (I sleep on my side). The other major disappointment was the shower - it was either freezing cold or scalding. Beware! If you're the type of person who can "bathe" in the ocean, this room will work for ya!
We never met Giuseppe, but one if the women at the Foccaceria showed us to our room. She was super nice and helped us get oriented with the town. We also enjoyed the food at the Foccaceria.
Nice quiet spot away from the main touristy avenue but still close. The capuccini and focaccia were wonderful! Grazie!
Carla
