I'm from the village originally although I lived away for a number of years. The house is a conversion of the farm buildings opposite the farmhouse where I used to live. I work in the local library and occasionally at the museum.

Had a wonderful time. Judith is lovely and very helpful. The flat is very cosy and well equipped and the village is full of footpaths and walking opportunities. I did not have a car and it was still easy for me. There's a bus to Buxton or Bakewell (and other points) if the need for more than a village emerges. Highly recommended.
We thoroughly enjoyed our New Year stay at the cottage. Judith was very welcoming on our arrival and communicated well with us prior to our arrival...she even put Christmas decorations up especially for us! The cottage itself was absolutely perfect for what we wanted, a cosy long weekend getaway. The kitchen is well stocked with equipment, and the log burner in the sitting room is VERY efficient. The village of Taddington is nice & quiet and not far away from places such as Bakewell, Buxton or the Monsal Trail. I'd happily recommend staying at Judith's cottage to anyone.
We had a very enjoyable stay in Judith's cottage in the Peak District. It's a traditional cozy cottage well located between Buxton and Bakewell and close to the Monsal Trail, an excellent base for exploring the surrounding hills and river valley.
The cottage is located in a picturesque village very conveniently placed between Buxton and Bakewell. It was very cosy and very comfortable. Beautifully clean and well appointed. In fact it felt as if Judith, who was very welcoming and helpful had thought of every possible need and met it. The kitchen was amazingly well equipped! Thank you we had a very pleasant stay.
We had a great time in our cottage in Taddington. Excellent kitchen comfy bed and a thoughtful and helpful host. A great location for exploring Derbyshire. The cottage has bundled of character and is full of books on local walks and places to go. Strongly recommended.
House as per the profile. Well equipped and quite spacious downstairs. Lovely little garden, and fresh eggs from the hens. Area quiet and rural. Pub very close and populated by interesting locals. Didn't eat there, but good choice of local beers.
We loved the cottage. We had a 3 night stay there following our wedding. It's great accommodation - we got to explore Buxton, Bakewell, Chatsworth and more whilst spending plenty of time just sitting in the cottage enjoying ourselves.
It's very well equipped for a holiday let and Judith was very helpful and accommodating.
All round, a lovely cottage and a lovely stay.
Judith was very welcoming and generous and we had an absolutely wonderful stay in the cottage. We found it much roomier than we were expecting and had no problems while we were there. We went on gorgeous walks in the area, which Judith showed us on the maps when we arrived. One day we walked to the beginning of the Monsal Trail and hired bikes to cycle to Bakewell. We stayed for 5 days and had more than enough to do. What a wonderful place, I'd definitely recommend it.
Judith is a very friendly and helpful host. The cottage is cosy and comfortable. It is in a good central location to access the Peak District. We very much enjoyed our stay.
Judith is a very gracious host who is most accomodating! She is very concerned for our well being and yet not intrusive. And the wifi works just fine! We are able to get about 3-4 devices. .. phones, tabs, ipads, laptop on wifi at the same time. And we can get wifi in the room upstairs as well.
The fire place is well stocked and easy to use. There are walking books and various tv channels that you can spend a cozy evening chilling out in the living room. Movies are available. .. though they are not that recent ones. you can probably bring your own.
The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils... and we cooked every night and breakfast except the night when we arrived. Supermarkets are located within 7 miles. Morrisons near buxton is easy to locate. Judith has left some takeaway information in the AshTreeBarn as well.
The location is great. Taddington is a small village but it's between buxton and bakewell... Well within the must see sights in peak district. It's 10minutes drive to location where you can rent a bike to go on monsal trail cycling. It's easy to get on to the highway and visit chatsworth house+haddon hall, blue john caverns+mam tor, dovedale, Ashbourne. . Etc etc.
If you are looking for a quiet time to spend with your loved one .. This is it. Taddington village is easy to get into and hide out for a few days. Near enough to towns for a change in pace.
