Grazie!
Claudia and Gabriele are very friendly and helpful hosts, always open to give us detailed information about bus services, restaurants and the beautiful beaches around Cagliari.
The two cats Xavi and Paolina are beautiful, cute and entertaining room mates, although Paolina sometimes likes to scratch and bite while playing.
The room is spacious and perfect for a couple like us. The balcony is not furnished, but has a good size. There is enough space for all your clothes in the wardrobe if you stay for the weekend. Claudia and Gabriele provided towels and bath robes. The bed is big and comfortable, although the pillows could be a bit more cuddly. Be prepared that the cats might visit you at night, so if you like to sleep with open balcony door, the door to the hall should be locked up. The kitchen is tiny, but offers everything you need for a pasta dinner. It was very nice to sit on the main balcony and have sweet breakfast which was simple and rich. Everything was clean, tidy and just like on the pictures.
Quartu S. Elena is a periphery of Cagliari. The apartment is situated in a residential neighbourhood. There is a number of restaurants, bars and supermarkets within walking distance. Please consider to have a 30 minutes bus ride to get into the old town or at least 10 minutes to reach the beautiful and endless Poetto beach. In the description you receive a free SIM-Card for Sardegna, but sadly it was not offered to us.
Claudia and Gabriele provided two bikes that were locked up in the basement, but we chosed to take the bus because of the heat. The last bus from Cagliari leaves at 10pm, so you can’t stay any longer or have to party all night long. All in all, we can warmly recommend this room for all couples who like to stay for a short trip and like to get to know kind and lovely hosts.
Two single ladies, going to paradise, we didn’t need much, a safe place for our belongings, a comfortable place to sleep and prepare to go out, and a location with easy access to beaches and nightlife; just a home base for a week of relaxation.
The hosts are helpful, even providing detailed instructions from the airport via bus and offering to meet at the stop nearest the flat. The location is NOT in Calgiari, but on the very periphery of Quartu S. Elena. We arrived and given the tour which took no time (the apartment is a great size for one couple, not for four adults unless you are already close friends). The two cats are funny, though the brown is aggressive and likes to bite, even coming to bite me as we made our initial introductions.
The room is a good size and complete with balcony. However the view is entirely disappointing, the area lacks any aesthetic charm and is run down. The bed was very comfortable and the room well furnished. However, do not anticipate using any of the drawers in the dresser nor night tables as they are full of the host's clothes. There is only one small section of the closet for use, so pack lightly or be prepared to rifle through your suitcase each time you change clothes or need something.
A must in our search for accommodations included air conditioning, which this home is equipped with, though this was never put in use regardless of the 33 degree temperatures. There are few things that dampen the enthusiasm of a vacation as much as being unable to sleep because of heat or to sweat while dressing to go out. Sleeping with the doors open is advised for the breeze, though the noise of the street and neighborhood is bothersome. Always be certain always to lock the bedroom door, even when you are inside. Regardless of closing, and ensuring the door is latched, the cats have mastered forcing it open. We were awakened several times by cats in our bed, our clothes, or meowing at the door when it was locked.
The bikes, which we were excited to use for beach excursions, are in a lockup in the basement and must be carried up the stairs as they will not fit in the lift. One is quite nice, the other fairly rust-coated. These are use at your own risk and bicycle theft is fairly high. After a little discussion, we opted to skip the bikes and take the bus. The bus stop is close and will take you along the length of Poetto Beach and to the center, but understand, if you go into the center for dinner or to dance, the last bus back is before midnight.
In the end, we cut our stay in the flat short and paid additional money to stay in another location which afforded a better location, a bit more privacy, no intrusion of four-legged visitors, and much more quiet.
We really enjoyed staying with Gabriel, Claudia, Xavi, and Paolina :) Their apartment was a 5 minute bus ride, 10 minute bike ride, or 20 minute walk to the beach. The space was clean and very spacious. I would recommend them to any air B and B traveler.
Thank you very much Shauna. It was a very pleasure to host you. I wish you a fantastic holiday continuation through Europe.
Really nice people, helped us getting from to airport to their place and how to get around Cagliari and Sardinia. Even though the place is located a little bit outside the city, it´s easy (and very cheap) to access it and the poetto beach by bus.
Me and my friend just returned from Sardegne where we stayed in this lovely apartment for 6 nights. Gabriele and Claudia are very nice and helpful, gave us tips and provided transfer from and back to the airport, and their cute cats made our stay more funny. The apartment is just like on the photos, clean, quiet, well decorated and cosy to stay. In the neighborhood there are many small and really cheap restaurants and bars, a supermarket and, of course, the Poetto beach, long and beautiful. The location is very good, there's a bus to the centre of Cagliari right in front of the house.
All in all, it´s a great place to stay, highly recommended.
I enjoyed my stay at Gabriele and Claudia's place a lot, it felt like visiting friends. They were very helpful, even picked me up at the airport and drove me back early in the morning. Gabriele and Claudia are easygoing and fun to be with, so even though, I was partly staying there on my own, I never felt alone, as they made me feel very welcome as well as their two cute cats did. Their apartment is within walking distance to the 8km long Poetto beach, which offers perfect conditions for jogging, beachball, swimming and even sometimes kitesurfing. I am very sure I'll come back to Cagliari in the near future and I'll sure also meet them again.
Everything was fine, they were very friendly, the flat was like on the pictures. Our room was clean, bright and silent, with a balcony. In the night it was cool, so you could sleep really well. There was some breakfast every morning, with everything you need.
You can reach the beach really easy, by walk around 20 min. ,by bus, which is right in front of the flat, in 5 min. (Tickets:1,20 one way or daily ticket 3 EUR) It´s also going to Cagliari, in ca. 20 min. You can choose between beaches with sand or rocks, both were beautiful. They were very helpfull, and gives us some insider tips, where to go and where to eat. Next to the flat where a lot of shops (parfumerie, kiosk, bank, supermarket, bakery...)
It was awesome, that they took us from the airport and also back by time. They were also offer some daily excursions in and around Cagliari.
All in all it was perfect and if you want to visit Cagliari and also go to the beach, this is the best place you can choose.
Gabriele and Claudia were really nice hosts and we spent a great vacation with them. They are very welcoming and kind and gave us many useful tips for our tourism in Sardinia, suggested the best beaches, provided transport information, etc. They also offered us a transfer from and to the airport of Cagliari and provided the breakfast for free. The room is big and comfortable, very sunny, and the house has everything you might need for daily life. By bus you can easily reach either the city center or many beautiful beaches outside of Cagliari. We felt really like at home when staying in Gabriele's flat, and would definitely recommend them to everyone!
Ragazzi molto simpatici e discreti, spero di averli ospiti in futuro.
Gabriele and his friends stayed 2 nights in my apartment, were really good in communication, nice people. Hope they have enjoyed there stay in Barcelona.
