Marketer who enjoys good conversations with open minded people.
Nicolas greeted me warmly and we spent a wonderful afternoon enjoying good conversation and drinks.
His 3-BR apartment is conveniently located near INSEAD (as well as other schools) and is good value for students looking for comfortable, no frills accommodations.
The pool and other sporting facilities are a great place to unwind and enjoy the outdoors.
I look forward to seeing Nicolas again the next time I'm in Singapore. He was a great host.
Response from Nicholas:
Stayed there for 4 nights and enjoyed a lot. The neighborhood is awesome, the condo where it is located is just so pleasant and last but not least, the place is very comfortable.
It is not central located so I would not recommend for you if you are in a short stay rushing to sightseeing like crazy. My priority was comfort and I got plenty of it for sure. However, it is not difficult at all to get around, as you can easily go around with buses / taxis and the MTR is just 2 or 3 bus stops away.
Nick is a great host and his place is very nice. As a practical matter, you have access to laundry and drying machines, ironing, etc.. Wi-fi worked pretty well. Mini supermarket with all your basic needs (but it is not a convenience store so buy your stuff and put in the fridge in order to avoid being hungry midnight).
For you guys who eventually want to stay fit, there is a gym closely with day rates as low as something around 11 Singapore dollars.
Nicholas is a easy-going guy who definitely held up his end of the deal.
The accommodations: The flat was ok and adequately depicted by the pictures. However when we moved in, the sheets were unwashed, the room smelled of smoke, and there were ashes all over the floor. I felt pretty bad that my parents upon arrival had clean up and do laundry.
I spoke to the host about this situation, and he didn't offer much help - he made some excuses about a "part-time maid" and did nothing other than provide an apology.
The location: Normanton Park is actually quite hard to get to unless you have a car. There are buses located outside of the complex, but can be tricky to navigate if you're new to Singapore.
The facilities: The pool was quite nice and there was a minimart conveniently nearby.
The host: Business-like and doesn't go out of his way to be welcoming or helpful.
It's a very spacious place. All towers, blanket, pillows and even extra clean linen are provided. It's located in a very quiet area, and the condo facilities are very nice. The view from the window is fabulous. You open the windows and you see the mountains. It's probably hard to find place like this in a crowded place like Singapore. Not ideal for non-smokers, otherwise, it's a great deal for this place!
Very nice room with great view over the park, everything is green around there. The condo has a lovely pool, supermarket, bistro, tennis court, basketball court,... NUS, NUH are just a stone's throw away.
Cool, chilled out and easy going flatmates which are fun to talk to and and like to jump into the pool together in the evening.
Nick is a friendly, easy going Singaporean who helped me a lot getting along in Singapore after my arrival.
I can really recommend that place!
Great comfortable place with lovely view over the park. Shame I didn't get time to enjoy the pool, it looked great. Nicholas and other flatmates were very chill and welcoming. Looking forward to another stay with them
This room is in a very quiet apartment in a large high rise complex. There is gated security. Nice pool area and convenient small supermarket with cheap beer and essentials with adjacent cafeteria.
The location is a bit off the track. Bus stop a short walk once you become familiar with area and routes. The MTR is too far to walk to without dehydrating but buses will connect with MTR stations. I would suggest taking a taxi there first time, inexpensive and will save you some sweat.
Nic is a relaxed host. If you don't like smoking it may not suit your needs. Clean comfortable (website hidden) works well. Towel provided.
Good place if you want to chill by the pool.
This place is very peaceful with the greenary scenes all over the place. Especailly I loved that it was quite, chill, and relazing. Nicholas is very welcoming as well as gives you a private time and space. He's there to help you whenever you need him. Thank you Nich and hope to see you again!
I was at Nicholas' place a number of occasions in the last couple of years. It is a great party location at the pool during day time and a stylish apartment at night. It easily accommodated a large bunch of party people who were not very quiet at times. For people living there the apartment would offer plenty of room and tranquility. Three rooms, a large kitchen and two fridges take care of most needs. A nature reserve is next door and a few universities are in the vicinity. I got to know some of Nicholas' flat mates when he was taking them along for drinks at times. Even when he is not living there he will do his best to make people at home. Get him started on a topic and he will give you his eloquent insights - particularly interesting if you've already acquired some basic knowledge about Singapore. Knowing him as a friend I also got to see his professional side. So when you rent his rooms you may expect a swift and professional service from him. When you see him. give him my regards!
Me and my mother stayed with Nick for three much-needed restful nights. His place is perfectly located within a convenient 25 minutes walk from NUH (in my mom's pace). We arrived at an unfortunate situation when there is aircon installation work but Nick made up for it by upgrading our room request at no extra charge and cleaned up much of the mess the next day. Had it been available, we would've stayed longer!
Nicolas' flat in Normanton park is really a cozy place to stay with a wonderful scenery, large swimming pool, closeness to bus station etc and more so Nicolas makes you feel at home. I stayed with him for a couple of days and it already felt like weeks cos I enjoyed every moment of it.
I have known Nicholas few years ago and he often invited me for informal BBQ by the pool of his residence when I visited Singapore. He knows lots of cool and interesting people with who m I shared great conversations. His apartment is nicely decorated and in a great compound with swimming pool, lush gardens and tennis court.
I almost became his flatmate when I was going to move to Singapore (but moved to Bangkok instead).
Totally recommend to become his friend and stay at his place for a unique stay in the city of SIN
