We are traveling through Ecuador for 8 weeks. When looking for a place to stay we look for a place with a kitchen so that we don't have to eat out and we look for an attractive area that is safe for our two children ages 3 and 4. The ranch was beautiful. We hiked all across the property and the boys got to see baby cows and sheep and ride horses. Carlos and Adela, who are very gracious, helped us with transportation and stocked the refrigerator with essential supplies. This was not necessary and greatly appreciated. We had a wonderful time!
I will say that there was a little bit of an unexpected expense... The ranch comes with the option to hire two people to help with cooking or making a fire in the fireplace or gathering wood, for drives to town, etc. We did not feel that we needed this service, we didn't know about it in advance but we didn't feel it would be appropriate to decline. Anita (housekeeper/cook) and Rene' (driver/handyman) were very nice and accommodating in every respect. Just come prepared with enough cash to be able to pay them.
Everyone at the ranch was super nice and very helpful and we would definitely go back. I just think the costs should be mentioned up front.
