Janet's apartment is in a fantastic location with everything you need quite literaly right on your door step. The apartment is clean with a lot of character but on the down side there is not a lot of space especially if you are there for a few days and have a few bits and pieces of luggage with you.
Janet was very helpful with throughout the process though and everything went very smoothly for our visit

We were greeted by Nancy when we arrived and made to feel very welcome. The apartment is cosy for sure but has a certain charm about it and the art on display is fantastic.
This location for us couldn't have been better - Cook St Village is such a lovely, lively place. We walked to Dallas Rd one day along the water, were within minutes walk to the Harbour and very close to downtown.
This was a great stay for us - a great place to end our summer vacation. Thanks again Nancy and Janet!
very nice place to stay wonderful very of the city and great central location
We felt very comfortable at Jannet's place. Her place is very clean and well located. Thanks Jannet for having us.
A little clarification here. This review is for the condo in Victoria and Janet is only the leasing agent (from Vancouver), Nancy is the owner. The location of the condo is pretty convenient, about 20 min walk to the Fairmont Empress Hotel, waterfront downtown, central bus station, etc. Nancy is an artist as the description says, painter/photographer, and the apartment is both her home and studio, therefore there is a considerable amount of art supplies scattered in the whole house. The pictures show only the living spaces, the other half of the rooms are for storage. While I thought that the clutter that other visitors have mentioned were pictures, doilies and knick knacks, which are OK with me, it really is more like storage of art supplies making the living quarters seem kind of cramped and difficult to relax. The other issue is the bathroom that has only a tub without a shower curtain, and needless to say, you have to be very careful. The kitchen is very cozy but lacks modern appliances like microwave oven, electric coffee maker, etc. So if you are an adventurous, care free kind of person that is looking for a place to just lie down and sleep at night this condo may suite you just fine, it is a very delicate space for a delicate person. Also make sure that you bring all the things you might need with you like shampoo, soap, hair dryer, etc., because you don’t know what you might find there.
My wife and I spend 12 days at this location. About three days before our check in, Janet contacted us to let us know that this place was unavailable, and she offered us another place she has two blocks away. As she mentioned at the time, actually the new place was better, although two blocks away, the location is superior and the view is awesome.
Janet and Derek are great hosts, they gave us directions to get to the building and were waiting for us when we get there, Derek welcomed us at the entrance of the building and we received a quick explanation of everything on the apartment, including how the self check-out worked. After that, they just contacted us twice by airbnb message, the first time to know how we were doing in the apartment and the second to ask our check-out time.
The great things about this place: you get a wonderful view of downtown, you are at walking distance of great restaurants and a very interesting neighborhood, a kitchen to make your own meals and enjoy them in the balcony, you have bus stops at a one block radius that get you to Kits Beach, Stanley Park, 4th Avenue, Chinatown, Commercial Drive, etc. On top of that, you have washer/dryer inside the apartment! Which is absolutely marvelous when you have been traveling before (I think also if you will travel after) your stay here. Also, there are a lot of towels!
The not so great: there is a (very popular) club half a block away, and sometimes the people gathered outside can be somewhat noisy on Thursday-Saturday. I am a heavy sleeper and probably I just woke up one time in two weekends, but maybe my wife woke up three or four times. The place is dusty and cluttered, with little space to organize your belongings. The bed is too soft, if you have back issues that could be a problem for you.
The place is really great, but the absolute best thing about it is the location, and not only to hang around while you are staying there, it is very easy to get to and from the airport :D
Janet and Derek were very low-maintenance guests and very easy-going. They washed the dishes before they left and actually did a minor rearrangement of the apartment that made it better!
Janet arranged for a different guest to stay at our place. The guest was quiet, friendly, and low impact. We enjoyed having him stay in our loft.
Nice guest !
