I live in Houston and don't hate it as much as everyone seems to think I should. Why? There are tons of Vietnamese immigrants here which makes for great eating (if I visit and you keep your favorite bánh cuốn shop a secret I will be disappointed!). But a man can only eat for so much of the day, and the rest of the time I'm a graduate student in mathematics. Aside from that, I hop on planes or drive hours across Texas whenever I can.
When I travel it's usually to visit family or friends who have scattered the globe. I prefer to stay in places that have a soul: a nod to history, some architectural focus and an embrace of a particular design go far in my book. It's hard to find these things at the Hilton, which is why I'm here.
