I'm a PhD student in urban and regional planning, which basically means that I love exploring cities. When I travel, I like to do the "musts" and see the iconic sites in a new place, but it's also really important to me to explore the day-to-day city. Nine times out of ten, I'd rather go to the neighborhood cafe/bar/restaurant than the big name restaurant and get a true sense of the city. New Orleans and New York are among my favorite US cities. I really love good food with Indian, sushi, and northern Italian (handmade pastas) ranking pretty high on my list.
