I have been going to PR all of my life, as I have family there. In that time, I've seen some very impressive sites. I have family in the mountains of Utuado, which is beautiful. Having said that, the views from Ms. Jane's home are hands down the most breathtaking views I'very ever seen! The grounds keeper was so helpful and kind. The house was spotless and had every kitchen utensil/pot/pan you can think of. The house had plenty of towels, linens, and blankets (as it gets a bit chilly). The balcony has 3 hammocks and a beautiful view. In addition, the land has fruit bearing trees and vines, and herbs. When we were there we saw watermelons, canteloupe, mandarins (which were delicious), tomatoes, cilantro, recao, and more. Television and cell phone reception was great and they had plenty of family friendly games to play. I will definitely return and after seeing pictures of the property, my family and friends want to go too. A word to the wise, unless you are accustomed to traveling on narrow, winding roads, DO NOT attempt to drive here at night. It is about 30-45 minutes off of the main road (Carretera 2), so be patient. We kept thinking we passed it, but we didn't. The trek is worth it. I wish we could share some of our pictures. We will definitely be back in the next year or two!
On another note, the house itself, is very accessible for wheelchair bound visitors. The only door my chair wouldn't fit in, is the bathroom door.
Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Great spot from which to explore SW PR, and to relax when you are done. The house is lovely, and mornings on the porch are exquisite. Host provided easy directions, and everything was hassle-free. Hope to return when the garden is built up.
Fabulous place, definitely lives up to its name! LOVE, love, loved that huge porch for breakfast, reading, writing, lounging in the hammock. Watching the clouds fly by at that height was impressive. Getting up to watch the sunrise over the mountains was well worth it! Neighbor dog was devoted to keeping our porch warm - - hope she does well with the pups she's expecting! Kitchen had many more gadgets than we expected - - really liked the little coffee brewers, bought one in Fajardo for home.
My mom and I had a great time at the house. We loved the interior and the view. It gets very chilly up there so I recommend to bring something warm to wear. I get cold easily and needed my winterjacket at night twice.
The communication was very well and the received information was very helpful.
Billy (Jane's island host) was exceptional.
> Great communication from our first day.
> Hints and tips prior to arrival
> Made personal visit to the place to ensure all was in order (clean, power and gas functional) the day of our arrival.
> Continued staying in touch throughout and after our stay.
> Provided introduction to area farms, as well as hints on places to stop and gawk, eat and things to be alert on.
> Great value for our all-too-brief brief stay.
> Location great as you are in the mountains less than two hours off the freeway.
> Not only very clean, but extremely well-equipped with all dishes, pots, pans, cutlery as well as an abundance of spices, cleaning liquids and equipment, down to the hammocks on the great sunrise deck.
> Beds very comfortable and tree frgs serenade prior to bed time was appreciated (noone out of tune).
Driveway was a bit difficult to find after dark (would come earlier next time); the fact that we found it due to good directions and safe, slow driving.
The reservation was canceled 118 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
"Escape to Tranquility" is the perfect name for this house! Situated on a mountain, the house is so serene- the views are breathtaking and the air fresh. My two friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay- relaxing in hammocks on the back deck was key-beautiful mountain views by day, endless stars at night. And the cottage itself was so nice and comfortable! We loved both its look and feel, plus it was equipped with everything we needed.
Our hosts were lovely and full of helpful information- the house is almost 20 mins from town (where you can get food, etc), but we were given clear and easy directions, arriving with no problems. They also knew of tons of great activities in the surrounding area and offered to guide us as well.
All in all, was a perfect stay- we would definitely recommend and hope to return again!! Thank you Bill and Jane!
