Joelene is incredibly welcoming. She immediately greeted us asking about our trip and giving us a complete tour of her lovely home. It is an incredibly colorful, well-designed space that mirrors the relaxing seaside atmosphere of Mattapoisett in general. Joelene also showed us a map of the area so we could envision other things we might like to do or see. The private room itself is also wonderful. It is set off from all other rooms with its own bathroom. The bed is also very comfortable.
Joelene is an excellent host. Our room was private, quiet and very comfortable. If you are looking for tranquility, you have found the right place. Joelene was also very accommodating and served breakfast in the morning. We would not hesitate to return. Thank you!
It was so nice to stay in Jolene's house in Mattapoisett, even just for one night!
The house is lovely, the room was large and spacious- very comfortable for sleeping. Outside there is a large pool for swimming which we didn't get a chance to use unfortunately, being at the beach all day.
Jolene was nice enough to leave bagels, coffee, and juice for us in the morning which we enjoyed a great deal :) She was very helpful with showing us around, but also gave us our privacy.
The town itself is adorable. Small quaint beach town, very scenic to just drive and walk around. We spent some time on the smaller local beaches in Mattapoisett, and then drove about forty minutes to Horseneck beach.
As this was my first airbnb experience I was a little apprehensive, but Joelene made us feel so welcome i'd definitely recommend staying at her place to anyone :)
Our first BnB experience and it was excellent. The host was absolutely wonderful...made us feel perfectly at home then virtually disappeared so that we could enjoy her beautiful home and neighbourhood. Never intrusive, but always seemed to be available when we needed her. Simply perfect.
The neighbourhood was lovely and quiet. We loved walking through it down to the water, so much so that we wanted to live there!
The house was spacious and inviting. The bedroom is above the garage, so it is quiet and private. The breakfast provided was healthy, fresh and nutritious.
The grounds were perfect for our son to play - tennis court, pool, and huge areas to run and play anything - like a private park.
It was a great place for one night, or many.
This was my first Airbnb experience and I was very pleased. As a woman traveling alone I chose to stay at Joelene's instead of a local hotel in the city. Her home was close to some family members and the location of my class reunion which was the purpose of my visit. The room was very pleasant and private. She made her entire home, pool and yard available to me for relaxing, although I did not do much of that ! She even went to the grocery to get my favorites after asking me what I wanted for breakfast and to make sure I had an enjoyable visit. We had enjoyable conversation as I shared some of my memories of growing up in Mattapoisett with her. I met some of her family members as well when they visited and everyone was very friendly. The neighborhood is quiet and serene and although I did not need a tour guide, I enjoyed staying close to all my old time favorite places like Ned's Point, Shipyard Park, Oxford Creamery and of course my family.
I will definitely plan to stay with her when I visit "home port" again and I will recommend her to any friends or family that have a need for a quiet friendly place to stay.
What a perfect Airbnb experience! Location, room, host - all five stars!
Joelene is a fascinating woman who's created a perfect Airbnb experience for couples in an area that challenges Cape Cod for pure enjoyment and relaxation. Her house is a lovely colonial located on a large, immaculately cared for property along a road of truly luxurious, tasteful homes.
The bedroom is large, bright and very well illuminated and ventilated, with the highest-tech window fan system, ceiling fan and super air conditioner. We arrived on a day when the land temperatures were in the high 80s, but within moments of starting the fans, it was clear we would not need the air conditioner - she's just a bit more than half a mile from Mattapoisett Harbor off Buzzards Bay. While we were just staying a night, it was clear that with her large in-ground swimming pool and jacuzzi, her home was a veritable mini-resort where a couple could easily spend a weekend.
Her king-size bed was super comfortable, though it would be a waste to spend much time in the room with so many Mattapoisett and neighboring community attractions nearby.
Bathroom was beautiful and private, with luxuriously thick towels, washcloths and all shampoos and conditioners.
Joelene endorsed our dinner choice of The Inn on Shipyard Park, and it didn't disappoint - it is exactly 7/10th of a mile away, a lovely evening walk away. Sandy had a twist on a nicoise salad - made with slices of perfectly seared fresh tuna. I had the California fish tacos, which were more filling than first appearance would have suggested. Despite the fact that it is sort of a local Friday-night "Cheers" type of place, a reservation phone call got us a table on their porch at 7:30pm on a summer Friday night.
Too far to walk, but worth going back to Joelene's for your car - is the Oxford Creamery, an ice cream and fried-seafood joint that makes its own moose tracks yogurt - very yummy.
Within a 15 minute drive of Joelene's house is New Bedford and its highly praised whaling museum. This historic treasure is well worth the hours you'll spend walking its halls and learning about the history of the region.
Again, not a mile from Joelene's house is the Mattapoisett Boatyard, which offers
a Seasonal launch service during daylight hours. Climb aboard and see the harbor from the water.
If this sounds like a perfect weekend retreat, you're right - it is!
Joelene was a great host and I found the room exactly as advertised. She has a great house in a very quiet neighborhood. There are some very nice restaurants in the nearby area and Joelene provided great recommendations.
When in this area again, I will definitely look to stay here.
I absolutely loved my stay at Joelene's house! I felt completely at home. Joelene went out of her way to make my stay comfortable. The house is beautiful and the bedroom was very private. This are in New Enland is beautiful even in the winter!
My girlfriends and I came here for a fun and relaxing weekend and we had such a wonderful time!! The house was perfect. It was amazing to have the pool, the hot tub, and the outdoor shower. We also had some fun with games in the yard. Highly recommended!!
Joelene's home is truly amazing. All of the amenities helped to make our weekend there unforgettable. The home has a great layout with more than enough sleeping locations. The kitchen was fully stocked with any and all appliances and cookware which made out food preparations very easy and enjoyable. The pool, hot tub, lawn and tennis/basketball courts we also in very good shape and allowed for our large group to participate in many activities simultaneously. The short drive to New Bedford was also a huge plus. Overall, it is absolutely a perfect place to host a large group for a week or weekend.
joelene and her daughter were amazing guests...great energy, lively and very friendly. it was so inspiring to see mother and daughter traveling together like best friends...really beautiful.
