An awesome apartment in the perfect location. The rooms were big, clean and spacious. They even left some wine for us- which was really nice. I would definitely recommend the apartment to anyone who wants to stay in a great area of Paris!
We truly had a great time. The only minor thing is that one matress would soon need to be replaced.. But it's a truly wonderful, stylish, cozy apt. with golden silence in the bedrooms. Great hopsitality and professionality. Definetively recommend it.
Very spacious apartment in the middle of Paris. Mathieu and Remi were easy to work and accomodating. Overall great experience with excellent hosts.
My partner, 10 month baby and I stayed at Mathieu's apartment and loved it - and the beds are super comfortable! The neighborhood is great for fashion, and the local market street is fantastic, as well as what the 1er arrondissement is very well known for. We got an excellent restaurant recommendation from his colleague and friend, Remi to dine at Le Fumoir which was brilliant - its somewhere that we'd definitely return too. Our only tiny criticism is the vary faint smoky smell in some of the rooms, otherwise c'etait parfait! Would recommend strongly.
It was my first visit to Paris, let alone Europe! Had to say the apartment is HUGE! Mathieu is amazing, he responded to every question and trust me, I had a few! My only negatives were not about the apartment but more about Paris, you'd think that going in the middle of winter would provide no queues, you'd be WRONG!
All in all, great apartment, Mathieu has an eye for beautiful pieces, the shower is a bit complex without getting water on the floor but with the heated towel rails it dries quickly lol.
For the location, the price, the size and the comfort of being in the heart of Paris with everything within walking distance (including super makets who have english speaking people) I would definitely stay (website hidden): you have to try the cafe opposite ... they staff are soo friendly and really look after you! The food is good too!
Everything went well! The apartment is exactly like on the pictures.
Mathieu was easy to communicate with and the stay was good organized (key handover, cleaning of the apartment, and so on).
When we arrived, there was a problem in the bath, but it was fixed directly, so no problem.
There is a supermarket (just out, turn right and go straight to the rue du louvre), a bakery, a drugstore, ... nearby.
We had a great stay in paris!
Incredible location and a host who is easy to reach and very friendly. Our previous airbnb booking was cancelled two days before we arrived in Paris. Per airbnb's advice, we contacted people with high response scores in the areas we wanted to stay, and Mathieu got right back to us.
The apartment is enormous by Parisian standards. It's plainer than it looks in the pictures with white doors, white walls, white ceilings, white baseboard, white crown molding, white medallions - I did feel the urge to visit a paint store. But as evening came the shadows brought out a lot of the beauty in the rooms.
Besides being walking distance to many of the main tourist attractions, we found some lovely local areas you may want to visit. If you go up your street NE about 1 block to the rue Louvre you'll be at the local food store, supposedly Gourmet, but all the basics. Don't get your wine from the expensive display up front; go back and to the right to find a lovely selection in a wide range of prices.
If you go up rue Louvre to the corner and turn right onto Rue Etienne-Marcel, you'll find the restaurant Le Lizard in the middle of the street at the tip of a triangle shaped block. Great duck and beef at relatively affordable prices. And at any restaurant, including Le Lizard, try the coffee gourmand. You'll get a miniature cup of bitter coffee accompanied by a collection of tiny assorted desserts. What a wonderful end to any meal.
If you continue down Rue Etienne-Marcel, you'll bump into a fabulous street, Rue Montorgueil. No cars, just several pedestrian blocks filled with cheese shops, patisseries, restaurants, and an ice cream shop with unusual and delightful flavors. I don't usually care much for ice cream in the States, but I recommend you get the triple cone so you can delight in three incredible flavors. This is the store I miss the most. But eat in any of the restaurants, sit at one of the many outdoor tables, and you'll enjoy some of the best people watching in Paris.
Warning - if you have a bad back like my husband, the hard mattresses on the two beds may not suit you. Steven switched to sleeping on one of the spacious couches and was fine, but since the salon is a bit smoky, that might not be a solution that works for everyone.
If you expect perfection, you will be disappointed. The carpet seams are loosening in some areas and some of the furniture is a bit worn. But if the host redid everything, the price would increase. For what we were paying and the location, we thought it was an agreeable tradeoff.
i don't know if the host had washing machine soap somewhere, but you may want to bring a small bag of it with you if you plan to wash your clothes. The apartment has a sturdy fold-out drying rack, and the heated towel bars in the bathroom worked very quickly to take out any lingering moisture in both towels and jeans or socks.
Overall an amazing value, and I would love to return.
Mathieu was a pleasure to work with and was extremely helpful and accommodating. He made the whole process so easy and provided information about the neighborhood and was willing to answer any questions I had before and during the stay. The apartment was incredibly spacious and felt like home. Only a few blocks from the Palais Royale, the location is perfect and on a very quiet street. I plan to stay there again my next visit!
The apartment is lovely, the location is incredible and the host Mathieu is fantastic! We loved everything about this apartment, it is very spacious and quiet and fashionably decorated. I stayed here with my husband and small child, who had her own room, so it is child-friendly, but I would also recommend it to travelers looking for a great home base while they tour Paris and all it has to offer. We were 3 blocks from the Louvre and watched the sunset there a few nights which was incredible and toured the museum in the evening - no line!
Mathieu was extremely attentive - we were greeted by his associate, who showed us around the apartment and gave us the keys. He also left us goodies, a map of the city, and answered some of our general questions via email. I wish all hosts were like Mathieu, I would never need to stay in a hotel again. He made our experience in Paris easy and enjoyable and we could cover a lot of ground from the central location of our temporary home. The neighborhood bars and restaurants are nice to stroll around in the evening if you want to stick close to the apartment. Would definitely stay here again, loved every minute of our stay here, thanks again Mathieu!
It was a pleasure to host Mathieu in our apt. He is a very polite and gentle person, communication was easy and everything went the right way. I strongly recommend him to everyone.
Mathieu was easy to communicate with; he left the place as he found it; no reservations...
