Sarah's apartment is a very small studio in Oakland and works for someone on the go who just needs a place to rest their head. The cats were a lot of work in the beginning as they were getting to know me and kept me up most of the first 2 nights. So, light sleepers stay away! The neighborhood is o.k. and the apartment building is a little grungy but neighbors are nice. I liked the convenience to the major highways and the restaurants and shopping on Lake Shore drive were great (Trader Joe's, coffee shops, boutiques, etc). The apartment wasn't very clean when I arrived but Sarah had another guest before me who didn't do any kind of cleaning so I suggested that she hire a cleaning service next time. Overall it was a below average experience, but Sarah is a very sweet person and after the first two nights her cats and I became good friends.
If you get the chance to stay with Sarah in Oakland, you would be a lucky person. She knows the Oakland area and San Francisco well and can recommend many wonderful places to go see and eat. I stayed with her for a week and her place is in such a nice location. It took me around 15 minutes to walk to the Oakland public library and only a few minutes past that to catch the Lake Merritt BART. Lake Merritt is beautiful and I always felt safe walking around it late at night even with my laptop permanently attached to my side. Her place has laundry facilities in the basement and a wonderful cafe less than a block away. Sarah is so caring that she even invited me out to a birthday dinner with a group of her friends. I would definitely stay with her again.
Sarah was a cheerful, helpful and generous host. I had to change my arrival time at the last minute, and Sarah readily accommodated my schedule changes. I also enjoyed chatting with Sarah about the Bay area, her weekend plans and mine. The room is pleasant, well-ventilated, and the bed very comfortable. Except for the cooing and warbling from the pigeons that roost in the morning on the roof just outside the window, which was enchanting, the space is mostly very quiet (no street noise and barely any noise from neighbors) -- which was very important to me as I'm a light sleeper. Sarah's cats are very sweet and provided some company and amusement, especially the long-haired sweety who was very curious about me and who loves looking out the bedroom window.
Sarah was a great host - very warm and friendly, and willing to help out with directions and share her local expertise (especially when it came to the local farmers' market!). It was a pleasure to stay in her apartment, which was really comfortable, and in an ideal position with the pretty lake on one side and a coffee shop on the other. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to other Airbnb-ers.
Sarah is an excellent host, and I thought my stay was comfortable and relaxing. Her location in Oakland is great.
Sarah is a really nice person whom you can definitely trust. Her home's location is fantastic, and just 1 minute away from beautiful Lake Merritt.
My stay at Sarah's place was very comfortable. The room was a good base for me as I traveled around the Oakland and San Francisco area. I so love to be next to the lake. It's become one of my favorite areas in the bay area.
I appreciate being hosted by Sarah. We related with ease and felt very accepted by her.
Kind & wonderful host! Room was exactly as described. Thank you!
Sarah was a very warm and welcoming hostess. I was immediately made to feel at home and helped me with everything I needed, such as directions and so on. The house is about a half-block from the lake, which made it a wonderful place to walk along. I had a great time staying at her place and touring San Francisco!
Sarah is a lovely woman. Her garret apt.has a view of many lively birds and no street noise at all. The bed is comfy. There is no reading light or chair, but if you want to, you can live like John and Yoko on the bed. Parking was a real nightmare for me--I drove around one night for 45 minutes before I just parked In a yellow zone 4 blocks away.. If I had gotten back to my car 5 seconds later I woulve gotten an $83 ticket! If you come without a car there will be no problem.
She is a wonderful, polite guest! I would have her back again.
Sarah is an awesome guest! Super friendly, low key and also very proactive to communicate with. Would love to host again and has no hesitation recommending others to host. Sarah is awesome!
Sarah was my guest for two nights during her trip to Denver. Easy to talk to quiet as a mouse, and very friendly. Sarah is welcome back any time!
sarah was great. a fellow airbnb host like myself, she was really cool to chat with and communicated clearly. would be happy to host her again.
Sarah is pleasant guest and I enjoyed sharing my space with her. In fact, I'm super psyched that she might become a new neighbor. Please don't hesitate to host her; she's flexible and a delight to chat with
