I am from Taipei, Taiwan, a incurable fan of travel, skiing (surviving two bone fractures), movie and Issac Asimov si-fi!

It can not be more apt description than ‘Home from Home’ I have stayed there for 3 nights and was sorry to leave… we both had busy schedules but have managed to make time for our chats and even with a bottle of red vine on the last evening. Had a lot of help with some sightseeing details and Fong Yu was always happy to advise. With my English , Polish and Shanghaies connections have managed to get him interested in my home town - Gdynia. I hope to be as attentive host as he was. If time allows I will be more than happy to pay a second visit and bring my friends and family to Taipei’s HOME.
Anna Shilton ,
I had a great time staying at Fong-Yu's B&B. Fong Yu was an excellent host, considerate, patient, and open-minded. He even volunteered to take us out on a hiking trip one evening. The apartment was in the same trendy neighborhood as Taipei's W hotel. It was tidy, clean, and it had everything you need. (including an Xbox, an in-door exercise bicycle, and interesting books about Taipei.) If you like street food, this is also a perfect place to stay. I also jogged at nearby parks. It was great experience if you would like to "blend in" a bit and pretend to be a non-tourist .
I have to say that I have been Taiwan with the organized tour and well taken care business short trip many times but never by myself . This time, I hope I would explore Taiwan more with the local people and the real life of Taiwan , so I did not book the hotel but homestay and looked forward to travelling like home. In respect of Fong Yu’s confirmation , I have to thank for letting me to stay at his home for only 2 days which was out of his routine. Fong Yu's home was extra clean , safe and the location was very convenient. Only 5 mins walk to subway station where a big dept store and food court were just right above. However, I felt uneasy during my staying. 1/ I was embarrassed when Fong Yu said my luggage ( standard 20kg ) was too heavy to damage the floor . It seemed that I had planned to visit Taiwan for a month . Therefore, he suggested me not to take it to my room but study room. It was really inconvenient and embarrassing for a woman. 2/ Having asked Fong Yu of how and where to buy mobile card and subway card (which I could pay for the public bike), I found that Fong Yu did not know much it. Instead, he asked if I knew how to use (website hidden) search for details. Of course, I knew, but it was another story while you were there. Anyways, I managed myself. 3/ As far as concern the green policy, Fong Yu told me he would not make any refund due to 2 days bookings. For such small amount, of course , I didn’t mind (if I was notified before), but it was a matter of principal to me. Fong Yu finally accepted my grounds and settled after then. 4/ Moreover , I really felt bad when I asked help from Fong Yu to lift my luggage downstairs and he asked me why I did not make advance booking for taxi ( because I thought it was easy to grab a taxi like HK ). Fong Yu again told me to get the no. with (website hidden) search and he would normally let the guests manage their luggage themselves ( even it was raining ). With this reason, I decided to carry the luggage myself. However, Fong Yu’s cleaning helper came up to me once he heard the door opening. He was really kind , helpful and even refused to be taken care. Definitely, I hope I could take this opportunity to express my deepest thanks and gratitude to Fong Yu’s helper ( he made the home extra clean and tidy ). He is very honest and considerate. I am so impressed with his generosity and his heartwarming personality is highly appreciated . Personal opinion : I would not book Fong Yu’s home again. For the reason, I could book a business hotel where I could get more assistance...
If you get a chance to stay in Fong-yu's place, you will see what a well-organized person he is.
His place is super clean and tidy.
And the location is convenient, it's on Zhongxiao East Road, 2 minutes walk from City Hall station, so you can take a bus to get there right after landing. Taipei 101, Xinyi ESLITE bookstore and Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall are within walking distance.
Fong-Yu is a thoughtful and considerate host. Since I bought my air tickets at the last minute, I didn't have any specific plans before I left home. So I asked him thousands of stupid questions via email. I know everybody was extremely busy before Chinese New Year, but he is such a prompt communicator that he did answer all of my emails and gave me lots of helpful suggestions and advices. He sent me several photos he's taken in his apartment, the bus schedule and a map of his neighborhood and made sure I had everything sorted prior to my arrival.
All in all, a delightful stay and I will definitely visit Taipei again!
Great place, clean, central location. Host was kind and helpful, he lives in the flat and is at work in the day so you would have your own space too. He will either provide breakfast or give you a discount if you want to eat locally.
The taxi drivers often don't speak English so get the address in Chinese too or get the driver to call fong for directions.
Fong left me a pineapple cake for Chinese New Year and was good company, very helpful!
though we only stayed 2days there,it's enough to learn that Mr.Liu is a learned man who deeply loves the life. if u wanna stayed in Taipei for a period of time，this apartment with convenient transportation is a good choice！last but not the least, i wish Uncle Fongyu pass ACCA soon!
I stayed here for 10 nights…
On top of all the good things others have commented, I would just add:
*The toilet is heated, which I loved…lol
*You are provided with storybooks to read at night…
*Fong-yu is not home often, so there's lot of private time for yourself
*Within 5~15min walk, you can find 2 banks (to exchange money), 1 post office, 1 dry cleaning store, 2 elite bookstores and some vegetarian dinning places, together with many other facilities…
NOTE: the doorbell is broken, so make sure you can somehow reach Fong yu (e.g. borrowing the cab driver's phone) when you arrive at the gate (which is locked), so that he can come down and let you in…
Nice place in general!
Fong-Yu is very helpful accommodating upon my arrival schedule. He is a nice guy to chat with, yet not bothering my privacy and schedule. I felt like having my own space even though you know there is another person in the apartment. I had fun and would definitely stay here again when I visit Taipei.
Fong-Yu is a nice person who offers a spare room in his apartment. He lives in an area of interesting cafes and restaurants and is a five minute walk to the MRT station Taipei City Hall. There is also a cultural park and museum of design right around the coner. This is also the destination of the bus from the airport, Since I was a little confuse by the map and directions, Fong-Yu walked over to the bus stop to show me the way home. After that, it was easy to find.
Fong-yu is a lawyer and is responsible for his elderly parent, so he wash;t around very much. He brought me breakfast every morning before he headed off to work, We did have a nice conversation on my last morning,
My stay at this place was great! I am a solo female traveler for this trip. The neigborhood is very safe, and the place is super close to the City Hall Bus Station & MRT station & the police station. Food & coffee around there are awesome too! Make sure to check out Artista Perfetto & cafes at the Songshan Cultural Park
